Chris Cunningham//Director//Producer// Chris Cunningham, the director of madness and obscurity, the director who has created films for music artists such as Bjork and Madonna. Cunningham specialises in Electro music due to his obscure and unique filming creativity, he has done commercials too for companies like Levi’s and Gucci. Cunningham’s work is easy to notice as he has a lot of extratetestrol features on the characters faces (as seen above for a PlayStation advert), ‘Mental Wealth’. ‘Mental Wealth’ is a film breaking into the world of creativity and differences, from an odd perspective, a perspective of those who have a mind-set of someone twisted, not a normal minds. Maybe just like Cunningham.

Chris Cunningham, the director of madness and obscurity, the director who has created films for music artists such as Bjork and Madonna.

Come to Daddy is another film by Cunningham for Aphex Twin. When watching this short film for the first time it is hard to see what is going on however on the second viewing you

begin to notice the structure of the film. Children being called by a character that seems as if it is not human, that it is something from outer space. The faces do not match the bodies, the faces are also blurred. They’re eyes are hard to see and the features of the face are dismissed. I wonder why Cunningham likes to create these weird characters for video or how people take inspiration from his videos. Whilst doing some research I found a video that may have inspired Cunningham’s obscure creative mind-set (or the other way around, may of inspired Huang’s film work). This is a film by a film artist called Andy Huang. This video has had a lot of editing and graphical work done to it, to make it look the way it does. In the film, you can see a mechanical head that’s looks like a dolls face, in a box, looking at a screen. This gives me the idea that this film was created to show a mechanical society? Made up of materialistic things, that we are all robots in society. https://youtu.be/evpGu3eO0pY

Cunningham’s films are created with a cheap budget, making him more of an artist for people to love as his work doesn’t need money to become something that is known in the world of media, art and music.
