This second edition of the international street food festival carries the theme “Engage, Empower, Enterprise.” It aims to create opportunities for likeminded individuals to connect and establish worldwide partnerships that will enable street food culture to grow. Two local Philippine vendors, Pepita’s Lechon and Bale Dutung’s Sisig, were handpicked to participate in this prestigious event and are now in Singapore to represent Philippine cuisine with their own delish interpretations of classic local favorites. The 2nd World Street Food Congress and Jamboree organized by Makasuntra, a Singapore­based foodpromotion company, will have street food masters from 12 cities around the globe setting up around 23stalls of delicious food from April 8 to 12 this year.

This second edition of the international street food festival carries the theme “Engage, Empower,Enterprise.” It aims to create opportunities for like­minded individuals to connect and establish worldwidepartnerships that will enable street food culture to grow.

Two local Philippine vendors, Pepita’s Lechon and Bale Dutung’s Sisig, were handpicked to participate inthis prestigious event and are now in Singapore to represent Philippine cuisine with their own delishinterpretations of classic local favorites.

Flipino born and US­based Chef Paul Qui, a Top Chef winner, will also be at the World Street FoodCongress both as a speaker for the Dialogue­Hackathon Session on April 8 and 9, and as a participant inthe Food Jamboree through his food truck that will be serving his version of Crispy Inasal Tacos andkinilaw.

Paul won the Top Chef S9 contest with his street food fare and never went back to his fine dining waysafter that; he now runs a string of food trucks and catering houses including his East Side KingRestaurant.

The World Street Food Jamboree is open to the public at the open field opposite Bugis Junction (by TanQuee Land Street) from 5 p.m. on weekdays and from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. Prices from S$4.50 and up. Fullmenu at www.wsfcongress.com.
