Peru: Choquequirao

Day 01 CUSCO/CHISQUISCA

* Lunch and dinner.Early transportation towards Cachora, anAndean community located 4-5 hours from Cusco. After driving for two and a half hours, stop in Tarawasi to visit the archaeological remains of an Inca Usno.Then cross the Apurimac river and up again through Curawasi and to Saywite to visit the famous inca rock, believed to be theconstruction plan for the Tahuantisuyo Empire.Continue to Cachora at 2800 m. Time for relax and lunch. In the afternoon start the hike climbing towards the abra Capuliyoc – excellent view of the mountains range and the Apurimac canyon; then continue descending to Chiquisca base camp.Camping.• Total distance: 14 Km.• Estimated walking time: 5-6 hours• Maximum altitude point: 2,750 m.• Campsite altitude: 1,800 m.

Day 02 CHISQUISCA/CHOQUEQUIRAO

* Breakfast, lunch and dinner.Early departure towards Rosalina beach; then cross again the Apurimac river and startclimbing towards Santa Rosa and Marampata.Free time for relax and lunch.Afternoon walk to the archaeological complex of Choquequirao at 3103 m. Free time to explore the terraces and buildings.Camping.

Day 03 CHOQUEQUIRAO/ ROSALINA

* Breakfast, lunch and dinner.Enjoy a complete guided tour of thearchaeological complex, visiting the high parts (Hanan) and the lower parts (Urin). Then start the walk towards Santa Rosa and finally Rosalina Beach. Time for a refresh dipin the waters of the Apurimac river.Camping.• Total distance: 14 Km.• Estimated walking time: 5-6 hours• Maximum altitude point: 3,035 m.• Campsite altitude: 1,450 m.

Day 04 ROSALINA/CACHORA/CUSCO

* Breakfast and lunch.Start two or three hours climb to Chiquisca and then cross Abra Capuliyoc.Early afternoon arrive in Cachora.Private transportation back to Cusco.Estimated arrival time around 21 hours.• Total distance: 16 Km.• Estimated walking time: 7 hours• Maximum altitude point: 2,850 m.
