2014YEAR OF THE HORSE

DID YOU KNOW?Famous horses include

Sir Paul McCartney, Harrison Ford, Aretha Franklin, Sir Sean Connery,

Mike Tyson, Neil Armstrong and John Travolta.

After the success of the Year of the Snake, Liverpool’s Chinatown is galloping towards the Year of the Horse celebrations that commence on Sunday 2nd February 2014.

The 2014 Kuei Szu year welcomes the seventh animal sign of the Chinese Zodiac – the active, energetic and animated horse. With a positive attitude to life, horses tend to be pleasant, amiable and easy going and their friendly nature means they are often popular with a large group of friends. With a highly animated personality and a talent for new ideas, horses can often take centre stage as they enjoy entertaining an audience. However, although gifted with a silver tongue, sharp minded and fashionable horses should be careful when taking on heavy responsibility or pressure as this can make them weak.

People born in the Year of the Horse are easy to get along with and often put their peers at ease. As such, horses will often work in management roles; they are decision makers and leaders. He or she may be a journalist, translator, performer, tour operator or bartender.

To celebrate the Year of the Horse, Culture Liverpool, Liverpool Chinese Community groups and other organisations have arranged a series of arts and cultural events from Saturday 1st February, with the main celebration taking place on Sunday 2nd February.

As always, the street festivities will be fun-filled, with plenty of activities for children and adults to enjoy, including:

11.00am Chinese New Year Market (Great George Street)

11.30am Lion, Dragon & Unicorn Street Parades (Chinatown)

1.00pm Spectacular Firecracker Display (Great George Square)

The 2014 Liverpool Chinatown Chinese New Year Co-ordinating Committee would like to thank its sponsors and supporters and wish you all “Gung Hey Fat Choi!”
