Opportunities abound in China’s sector for smart cities, intelligent buildings and smart homes. The interrelated nature of these three markets plays a significant role in the future development of China and involved industry players will find no shortage of business prospects.

Given the country’s rapid economic growth and ambitious urbanisation plans, the development of smart cities is currently one of the Government’s top public concerns. Currently, more than 400 smart cities exist throughout the country and the size of the construction market for such cities is expected to reach USD 639.9 billion.

In regards to the intelligent building market, property owners are making conscious efforts to increase the use of technologies and solutions that boost comfort, convenience, efficiency and safety in buildings. Consequently, there is strong demand for intelligent, energy efficient and sustainable technologies. As such, developers are incorporating advanced automation systems, as well as utilising Internet of Things and cloud computing technologies into their projects.

Furthermore, the aforementioned markets will benefit from the burgeoning demand for smart homes with integrated solutions and micro intelligent technologies. Continuous improvements in information exchange, mobile devices and Internet technologies bring accelerated growth for the smart home market in China. Resultantly, it is estimated that the market size will reach USD 22.3 billion in 2018.

To stay in line with market development, the Shanghai Intelligent Building Technology 2015 has three core themes focusing on building efficiency, smart cities and smart homes. The fair is a comprehensive platform showcasing intelligent building solutions including building automation systems and products, data centres, generic cabling, community management systems, smart home systems, audio and video systems, security and access control systems, and much more.

Shanghai Intelligent Building Technology is a part of Messe Frankfurt’s building and energy shows, headed bythe biennial Light + Building event in Frankfurt, which will take place from 13 – 18 March 2016.

“Intelligent Green Building – IGB” exhibition platform integrates four leading events in ChinaThe “Intelligent Green Building – IGB” exhibition platform is comprised of the “Shanghai International Lighting Fair”, “Shanghai Intelligent Building Technology”, “ISH Shanghai & CIHE – Shanghai International Trade Fair for Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning” and “Building Solar China”. These four events collectively spanned 40,000 sqm and attracted more than 700 exhibitors and over 40,000 visitors in 2014. This comprehensive platform provides total building energy efficiency solutions. It also optimises synergies between diverse groups of professionals such as designers, system integrators, engineers, contractors, property developers and many others.
