THE FIRST CHINESE HI-TECH SCIENCE PARK IN EUROPE!

Strategic positionChina Belgium Technology Center (CBTC) is located in Belgium, the heart of Europe. It is the first comprehensive science and technology park invested by China in Europe. As an important part of implementing the “Belt and Road Initiative” (the policy that was initiated by Chinese government to form regional cooperation), CBTC will play a positive role in the establishment of cooperation and innovation between China and EU.

As China’s largest investment project in Belgium, CBTC will serve as the platform for Chinese enterprises to enter Europe while helping European companies’ market entry in China. Its objective is to facilitate the cooperation and innovation between Chinese and EU companies.

CBTC is located in the Louvain-la-Neuve Science Park and adjacent to the Université Catholique de Louvain, ranked in the TOP200 universities worldwide. In June 2016, United Investment Group held the CBTC launching

ceremony and press conference at the project site in Louvain-

la-Neuve, Belgium, kicking the construction of municipals roads

around the science park.

Building on construction

The project has started in August 2017.

The construction is scheduled to be completed

in january 2020.

WHY CHOOSE SMART VALLEY-CBTC ?

In May 2017, AWEX, the Hubei Provincial Department of Commerce, and United Investment Group signed a memorandum of cooperation on the

tripartite cooperation.

AWEX plans to set up the China Welcome Desk in CBTC to provide services to Chinese companies. In October 2018, the awarding ceremony of China

Welcome Office was held.

AWEX is the Belgian/Waloon business promotion agency that promotes Wallonia abroad, provides exportation information and services to companies

in Wallonia, Belgium, and assists and supports potential investors to realize their investment projects in Wallonia. AWEX has five offices in China: Beijing, Shanghai,

Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Wuhan.

A dream come true

In March 2014, President Xi Jinping and former Belgian

Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo witnessed the signing of the CBTC

Development Cooperation Agreement during his state visit

to Belgium2014.

In October 2016, Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel visited

China and spoke on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of China-

Belgium diplomatic relations that CBTC is successful example of

China- Belgium cooperation.

A Green technology working spaceThe CBTC – Smart Valley, which is designed according to EU CE standards and uses multiple energy-saving technologies, is a Sino-Euro Intelligence Valley provi-ding you a green technology working space.

Simplicity and variationsIn projects of this magnitude, simplicity is the best starting point.

The project proposes a global, united and apprehen-sible structure. The party is to create a great figure organized around a square that serves as the heart and reference.

Architecture must find this point of balance between the simplicity in the expressions and the quantity of languages used in order to keep the principles readable and provide the amount of vibrations and variations necessary to satisfy the eye and I arouse interest.

Find a human scale in the great gestures of the land-scape.

The element of variation, in the massive facades, is the thickness. With a depth of 30 cm bay in the heads and in the hotel, the hollows can reach 90 cm in the pedestals and 360 cm in the colonnades.

This language of concrete and bricks links with the architecture of Louvain-la-Neuve while the proposed colors are contemporary.

Water ManagementThe attention of the environment is also reflected in the management of rainwater. The objective of the project to ensure that no rainwater is discharged into the sewer, taking into account a 100-year return rainfall.

The water is therefore completely stored and infiltrated on the site.

The management of water becomes a story, which is told in the surrounding areas, the footpaths and the square.

PlantingThe plantations are mainly native species which have been chosen for their particular properties, especially their water or hydrocarbon absorption capacity.

Some ornamental trees or shrubs originate from Asia in order to dialogue with the users.
