Community Christmas Fair - 50 years of Henry Hinde Infant School – ONE WEEK TO GO! Our Community Christmas Fair, which will be opened by The Mayor of Rugby will be on Sunday 3rd December from 12.00-4.00pm, with a carol concert at 3.30pm. We are in urgent need of helpers for the Christmas Fair. If you can help with setting up the stalls, running a stall or clearing up afterwards, please let the office know. Some of the stalls may have to be cancelled if we don’t get some more volunteers! Children in Need Thank you to everyone who donated towards this year’s Children in Need appeal. We have raised a fantastic £240.50! Year Two Grandparent’s Lunch Thank you to all the 55 grandparents who came today to share lunch with their grandchild! It was lovely to see you all and the children really enjoyed sharing their lunchtime with you.

“I really enjoyed my lunch; school dinners weren’t like that when I was at school!” Makaton Next week’s signs are ‘brother’ and ‘sister’.

Congratulations Congratulations to two of our Kitchen Assistants; Mrs Janine Withers has completed her NVQ Level 2 in Catering and Mrs Charlotte Jones has completed her NVQ Level 2 in Catering and also an Apprenticeship in Food Production and Cooking. Whole School Learning Challenge - Update The children have been thoroughly enjoying our current learning challenge ‘What makes a performance great?’ This week, Key Stage 1 watched Reception’s mini production of ‘Winnie Wagtail’. All the children are busy thinking about how to improve their performance ready to start planning and rehearsing their Christmas productions.

“I thought the acting was really good and I especially liked the dog.” “I enjoyed singing ‘Old MacDonald had a Farm’ the best.”

Scholastic Book Fair As you know we are holding an exciting Scholastic Book Fair between 6th and 12th December. We would be very grateful for some help with running the book fair. Please let the office know if you can help before or after school on any of these days. Library The library will not be open during the book fair. If you have a library book that is due for return between the dates the book fair is running, you may either hand it into the office or return it after the fair (without penalty!). The last day to borrow books from the library will therefore be Tuesday 5th December and then the library will be open after the fair has finished until Friday 15th December for returns only. The library will not be open in the last week of term.

Christmas Card School Delivery The school’s Christmas post boxes will be open from Monday 11th December. Children can use them to post Christmas cards to their friends in school. Please make sure the name of the child and the class is CLEARLY MARKED on the envelope. There will be post boxes in each year group area. Christmas Cards Would your child like to give everyone in their class a Christmas card, but you are unsure of all their names? Please see the office that has a list of the names of all the children in your child’s class. Before school clubs Please remember that your child should arrive promptly at 8.15am for before school clubs. Your child may be refused entry if they arrive after this time as it is so disruptive for the club. Collecting children from clubs Please can all parents remain outside the main entrance when collecting children from after school clubs? This enables the staff to ensure all the children have an adult collecting them and is much less confusing. Book bags Please make sure you check your child’s book bag on a daily basis and take out any school correspondence. Also if you are sending in anything for the office, please remind your child in the morning that there is something to be handed in as the classroom staff do not have time to check each individual book bag. Please do not put drink bottles in the book bags as we have had several instances when books and letters have got wet. Thank you. Forest School Forest School will run this year on a Wednesday afternoon only. From September until February half term, Year Two will be doing Forest School one class at a time. Year One will start Forest School after February half term until the end of the school year. This means that each class will receive a session on alternate weeks during the period that they are doing Forest School. Please make sure your child has spare clothes including socks in school for them to change into if needed after their session. Please see dates for the rest of the Autumn Term below: Lobsters Sealions 22 November 29 November 6 December 13 December Forest Schools The weather is getting colder and muddier, so it is important that you send your children in layers to keep them warm. A fleece type coat is ideal for keeping warm but small enough to stay clean and dry under the waterproofs that we provide. Please ensure that you send in a spare pair of shoes to get changed into after the session. If you can leave a spare set of clothes in their Forest School Bag in case they get wet or muddy that would be appreciated. A Library card for Every Child in Warwickshire Warwickshire Libraries offer all children in their Reception year at school the chance to collect stickers as they borrow books from the library. Those that make 4 separate visits will receive a free jute "I love my library" goody bag designed for this age group, which includes a specially produced first book of puzzles and reading information. Do encourage your child to join the library if he or she has not already done so (or mislaid the card!). This can be done in the library or online at www.warwickshire.gov.uk/jointhelibrary Membership of the library and all parts of the goody bag scheme are free. Books can be renewed in the library or online or by telephone, and a reminder system can be set up by email to alert you to when book loan dates are coming up. Do check your nearest library at: www.warwickshire.gov.uk/libraries

Medical Appointments Please make medical or dental appointments outside of school hours wherever possible. If this is unavoidable, please bring the hospital letter or appointment card into the office for our records. Thank you. Coats Please make sure you send your child to school with a hooded coat every day as we do encourage them to be outside weather permitting. Lateness It is now required that the parent/carer bringing a child to school after 8.55am comes to the school office and informs the office staff as to the reason for their lateness and signs the late book. Facilities Hire Are you looking for facilities to hold your child’s birthday party or other celebration? Why not hire our school hall? Hire rates for parents start at just £60. Please see the school office for more information. Stamp Appeal Please send your used stamps into school to support a charity that rescues, cares and rehabilitates horses in need. Lost Lily-Rose Edgar has lost 3 of her named school cardigans. Please check your belongings. Congratulations to:
