Childcare Sufficiency Profile 2017

Cromer and Mundesley

Children’s Centre Area

Key Findings

Local data indicates there is insufficient number of 2, 3 and 4 year old places in the area at present

For 0-2’s only 2% of children can access a childcare place

Growth in childcare places will be needed in specific locations to respond to proposed housing developments (Cromer) and increased demand for funded entitlement

The Out Of School Clubs appear to meet demand

Parents currently have a choice of the type of provider they can access, however there is a very small percentage of childminders in the area and recruitment is encouraged.

For those inspected by Ofsted a judgement of ‘Good or Outstanding’ is at 92% for group providers, lower than the Norfolk average of 92% and 75% for childminders, lower than the Norfolk average of 95%

New provision would need to be of high quality to compete in this market and provide a flexible offer to meet parents needs

Sufficiency is about childcare places for all children who need it, choice for parents and good quality provision

Demographics

There are 748 0-5 year olds and 315 3-4 year olds in the Children’s Centre Lot as of

December 2017
