Arrive at Chiang Rai boat landing and start your most interesting boat trip upstream the Mae Kok river, stopping at a Karen hill tribe village and a Red Lahu hill tribe village (about 2.5 hours.) Arrive back at the boat landing, where local lunch will be provided. Drive to Chiang Saen on the steep banks of Maekhong River and witness some magnificent ancient ruins and temples. Continue on to the Golden Triangle area, where the borders of Thailand, Burma and Laos meet. Located south of Chiang Mai is one of the most fertile troves of natural treasures in Thailand, Doi Intanon National Park. Doi Intanon, 8514 feet above sea level - the highest peak in Thailand and is probably the most preserved in Thailand. More than 383 bird species have been reported. On this tour stops are made at: Wat Phrathad Chom Thong with its holy relic and ancient treasures, Wachiratharn Waterfall, the twin chedi - built by Thai Airforce to honour King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit, and the summit - containing the shrine of Chao Inthawitchayanon, the former prince of Chiang Mai.
