PREPARATION

PIECING THE BLOCKS

1. Draw (3) Template C ice cream scoops on the paper side of EACH of (20) 4½” x 20” fusible web rectangles,leaving at least ½” between scoops. Draw (1) Template C ice cream scoop on the paper side of EACH of theremaining (4) 4½” x 20” fusible web rectangles.

1. Sew (1) left-facing Fabric D (B - Fan Blade) to the left side of (1) center Fabric C (A - Kite) as shown. Press theseam open to reduce bulk.

4. Sew (2) 4½” x 8½” Fabric C rectangles to opposite sides of (1) block center square. Press seams toward theFabric C rectangles.

5. Sew (1) 4½” x 4½” Fabric A square to the left end of (1) 4½” x 8½” Fabric C rectangle. Sew (1) 4½” x 4½” Fabric B square to the right end of the rectangle to make a top/bottom frame. Press seams toward the squares. Make 32.

6. Sew (2) top/bottom frames to the remaining sides of the block center square. Press seams toward the top/bottom frames to complete a 16½” x 16½” quilt block. Make 16 quilt blocks.

3. Lay out (4) quarter center squares in two rows of two squares each, noting the orientation of each quarter square. Sew the squares together in each row. Press the seams open to reduce bulk. Join the rows. Press the seam open to reduce bulk to make an 8½” x 8½” block center square. Make 16.

2. Sew (1) right-facing Fabric D (B - Fan Blade) to the right side of the center Fabric C kite as shown to make a quarter centersquare. Press the seam open to reduce bulk. Make (64) quarter center squares.

4. Draw (8) Template D cherries on the paper side of EACH of (8) 4½” x 2” fusible web rectangles, leaving at least ½” between cherries.

2. Following manufacturer’s instructions, fuse (5) three-scoop and (1) one-scoop fusible web rectangles to the wrong side of the (3) 4½” x WOF Fabric G strips. Cut out each ice cream scoop on the drawn line to make a total of (16) Fabric G scoops.

5. Following manufacturer’s instructions, fuse the (8) 4½” x 2” fusible web rectangles to the wrong side of (1) 2” x WOF Fabric E strip. Cut out each cherry on the drawn line to make a total of (64) Fabric E cherries. Make 64

3. Repeat step 2 and make a total of (16) scoops from Fabrics H, I and J.

APPLIQUE THE BLOCKS

ASSEMBLING THE QUILT TOP

1. Lay out (1) Fabric J scoop on the left cone, (1) Fabric H scoop on the top cone, (1) Fabric I scoop on the rightcone, and (1) Fabric G scoop on the bottom cone of the center square covering the edge of each cone. Place a cherry on top of the scoops overlapping the scoop. Be careful to leave at least3/8” above each cherry for seam allowances.

1. Lay out (4) blocks, noting the orientation of the blocks, alternating with (3) 1” x 16½” Fabric F rectangles. Sew the blocks and the rectangles together. Press seams toward the Fabric F rectangles to make a block row. Make 4 block rows.

2. Lay out (4) 1” x 16½” Fabric F rectangles, alternating with (3) 1” x 1” Fabric E squares. Sew the rectanglesand the squares together. Press seams toward the Fabric F rectangles to make a sashing row. Make 3 sashingrows.

3. Lay out the (4) block rows, alternating with the (3) sashing rows, noting the orientation of each of the dark Fabric J ice creams scoops. Sew the block rows and the sashing rows together. Clip, swirl and press the seams to lay �at to completea 66” x 66” quilt top.

2. Following manufacturer’s instructions, fuse each of the scoops and cherries to the quilt block.

3. Using your preferred method, appliqué each scoop and cherry to the quilt block to secure. Lay out and appliqué each of the 16 quilt blocks in the identical way.

FINISHING

1. Layer the quilt top, the batting and the backing fabric. Quilt as desired.

2. Bind the quilt with double-fold binding made with the (7) 2½” x WOF Fabric F binding strips.
