CHENNAI SCHOOL OF MUSIC THERAPYTaking Traditions to Clinical Practice
MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
Welcome to Chennai School of Music Therapy in collaboration
with IMC University of Applied Sciences, Krems, Austria.
Modern Health care delivery is redefined encompassing caring
and social dimensions. Nature of treatment for any kind of illness is
not just clinical treatment but also care. There is a shift to the
integrated approach of treating the person as a whole and not just the disease. The health
care system has begun to function with an interdisciplinary team including allied health
professionals to improve the Quality of life components and to bring a balance between
the mind, body and the soul of the individuals.
Music Therapy is one such allied health profession in the West where music is used within
a therapeutic relationship by a qualified music therapist to improve physiological, social,
cognitive, psychological and spiritual dimensions of individuals in a clinical context. In
India, contemporary Music Therapy practice, education and research are just emerging
and still exists as a strong belief system on traditional healing influences on a theoretical level.
Chennai School of Music Therapy revisits Indian healing traditions and transfers them into
modern Music Therapy practice, education and research based on scientific and evidence
based research methodologies. The School introduces the first professional training
programme in Chennai with an aim to offer high quality academic programme with the
state of art training solutions.

foundational training programme prepares the students to take up a professional course
on music therapy offered by the School to become a certified music therapist. Those of the
