1999 photochemistry, radiation chemistry, chemoluminescence photochemistry, radiation chemistry, chemoluminescence O 0160 33 - 064 Synthesis of Bridged Bicyclic Ethers and Fused Oxetanes from Pyran-4-ones via Tandem Solvent Trapping and Norrish Type II Cyclization. — Irradiation of the pyranones (I) in the presence of methanol or ethanol leads to products of type (III) which smoothly undergo cyclization to fused oxetanes and bicyclic ethers.
