An Alternative Approach to Selective Nitrogen Alkylation of 1,4,8-11-Tetraazacyclotetradecane (Cyclam). An alternative route for the synthesis of 1,8-disubstituted cyclam derivatives like (IV) and (VII) from the cis-aminal (I) is described.
