9. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQIPMENT (PPE’s)
• It is using to minimize all chemical exposures and risks employees in the workplace
• Understand the types of PPE & requirements
• Conduct a "hazard assessment" of the workplace.
• Select appropriate PPE for a variety of circumstances.
• Train the employees in the use and care of the PPE.
• Attend training sessions on PPE
• Always Properly wear the PPE
• Care for, clean and maintain PPE
• Inform a supervisor of the need to repair or replace PPE.
• Always ensure that any hazardous chemicals and PPE are used in accordance with the MSDS recommendations.

12. GOOD PRACTICES
Before using any chemicals always read labels’ & MSDS prior to use
Chemicals should be separated and stored according to hazard category and compatibility
Oxidizers, reducing agents, and other chemicals should be stored separately to prevent contact in the event of an accident
Chemicals should not be stored in near heat or in direct sunlight
Always close the containers after usage
High-traffic areas should be avoided in chemical store
MSDS and label information should be followed for storage requirements
Maintain existing labels on incoming containers of chemicals and other materials.
Labels on containers used for storing hazardous chemicals must include the chemical identification and appropriate hazard warnings
Consult the MSDS and keep incompatibles separate during transport, storage, use, and disposal
![Page 28: Chemical handling awareness 1](https://reader031.fdocuments.net/reader031/viewer/2022022123/589da9401a28ab21728b512b/html5/thumbnails/28.jpg)
GOOD PRACTICES
Never eat, drink, or smoke while using hazardous chemicals
Never keep any food items in chemical storage area
Wear appropriate PPE at all times
Use secondary containers to avoid spillage
Always wash up after using chemicals
Keep the place dry & tidy
Never smell or taste a chemical to identify it
Know all emergency procedures and equipment
Maintain situational awareness
![Page 29: Chemical handling awareness 1](https://reader031.fdocuments.net/reader031/viewer/2022022123/589da9401a28ab21728b512b/html5/thumbnails/29.jpg)
GOOD PRACTICES
Avoid use any expired chemicals
Trained workers should ensure that proper engineering controls (ventilation) and PPE are in place
Unauthorized experiments should not be performed
Properly dispose of chemical wastes
Notify supervisors of chemical sensitivities or allergies
Report all injuries, accidents, incidents, and near misses
