What we can offer you and your child:-

A welcoming, secure and happy environment where staff of the nursery support and encourage children and positive relationships

with both adults and peers are built. We ensure they can create and develop their own learning journey at their own individual rate.

Our Tadpole Room:

Our Tadpole’s area is for our children aged between 0-18months. The focus here is building secure relationships and attachments

within their key families. The age and developmentally appropriate resources stimulate and enhance children’s natural curiosity and

develop their sensory skills and awareness.

Our Frogs Room:

Our Frog’s area is specifically designed for our children who are aged between 18months and 2 years 9 months. The focus of this room is always interaction with opportunities and resources that support a child’s exploration and investigate and their subsequent

development.

Our Newts Room:

This room is for our children who are aged between 2 years 9 months -5 years. Here the emphasis is on learning through play and

practical experiences as we believe these are the key means in which a child explores the world and makes links in their understanding.

Please look further into the prospectus to find more detailed information on each of our rooms.

Learning Journeys – During your child’s time at Cheeky Cherubs, an important part of our work with them is to produce their individual learning journey. This learning journey consists of a number of things such as, observations, assessments, next steps and your child’s work which is annotated and dated. These are all based on the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Nursery uses electronic learning journeys called 2Build a profile, which staff regularly use nursery IPad’s to take photographic observations to support children’s progress. Your child’s learning journey is e-mailed to you once a month and you are able to contribute to them at any time. This is also shared with you on our Parents Evening that we hold termly.

Food – We provide a mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack for all of our children here at nursery. This consists of fruit and a biscuit. At midday, we provide our children with a full nutritionally balanced cooked meal for the small cost of £1.50. All of our meals are freshly prepared and cooked on a daily basis on the premises by our own in house cook, using locally sourced fresh produce. All children’s individual dietary needs and weaning needs are catered for. We aim to work in partnership with families and professionals to support children in developing healthy eating practices, which will therefore become embedded for life. Please find an example of our menu within our prospectus, although the meals for the week are displayed on our banana menu board in the hallway for both you and your child to see. If your child has any allergies, please ask to see our allergy folder which contains which contains all ingredients we use.

If your child attends over the tea time period, parents are welcome to provide a packed tea which the children can sit together, which they enjoy at 5pm.

Key Persons – Every child within our nursery is allocated a Key

Person who best matches their patterns of attendance. Key People have a special responsibility for working with small number of children, giving them reassurance and support to feel safe and cared for. The Key Person will also build special relationships with you, the Parent or Carer and their families. Although the Key Person will be your first point of contact for any questions and answers you may have, all staff within the nursery will be happy to feedback or discuss any questions you may have, as we work in such close teams, all staff form excellent relationships with all the children.

Curriculum – Staff at our Nursery use the Early Years Foundation Stage as the document for informing our policies and practice. The four themes are: A Unique Child, Positive Relationships, Enabling Environment and Learning and Development. These provide a template on which we are able to plan and map the services we provide. We provide a broad range of challenging and stimulating activities, both indoors and outdoors, that promote children’s overall development. Frequently asked questions

What do I do if my child is ill?

If your child is ill, please contact the nursery by telephone, email or text, on the day of the session they are due to attend to let us know that they will not be attending. Children must not attend nursery for 48 hours after sickness or diarrhoea have cleared. Also, if your child is on antibiotics, they should not attend nursery for the first 48 hours. If you are unsure or require advice as to whether your child can attend nursery, please do not hesitate to contact us.

If I have any concerns about my child, can I ring the nursery?

Yes of course, we welcome telephone calls or text messages at any time from parents.

Who can collect my child from nursery?

We will accept any nomination from you if we have their details and password system has been set up. However, unless you have notified us in advance of that person, we will not release the child in to their care.

What happens if my child does not settle?

We offer our new starters a home visit and 3 x 2 hour sessions free of course to help support your child settling in to nursery. It is unusual for a child to not settle, the excitement of new surroundings and playing with the other children, usually helps to settle a child quickly. If we have any concerns about your child settling, we will ALWAYS discuss this with you. Equally, if you have any concerns, please discuss them with us. Between us, we can usually overcome any difficulties.

If I need to change my child’s day at nursery, how do I do this?

It is possible to change your attendance pattern provided we have a vacancy on the day you require. To help meet your needs, we ask that if possible a minimum of 4 week’s notice is given of any requested change. If in the event this is not possible, please speak to us as soon as possible and we will do our best to help, although despite our best efforts this is not always possible due to staff: child ratios.

Do I pay fees when my child does not attend nursery?

Yes, fees are payable for 51 weeks of the year

When and how are fees paid?

Fees are paid one month in advance at the beginning of each month. Invoices are e-mailed to you at the end of each month and must be paid within 5 days. Payment can be made by cash, vouchers and bank transfer, for any payment that is late a further £10 will be added to your account.

Can I bring foods or sweets in to the nursery for the children?

Yes, if it is a special celebration such as your child’s birthday. At other times we would ask that you consult a member of staff before doing so in order to ensure no child can gain access to any food or sweets that may be harmful to that individual.

Page 11: Cheeky Cherubs Day Nursery · Nursery uses electronic learning journeys called 2Build a profile, which staff regularly use nursery IPad’s to take photographic observations to support

What happens if I realise I may be late collecting my child?

In an emergency, we will hold staff on to look after your child. It is vital that you alert us to the problem as soon as possible to ensure we can make timely arrangements. A late collection fee will be payable. Please see our policy.

What things do I need to provide for my child whilst they attend nursery?

The nursery will advise you of what is needed during your induction with us. It is normally restricted to personal items such as nappies, wipes, creams, change of clothing, sun protection cream etc.

If my child has an injury, will I be told?

Absolutely. If your child receives an injury, no matter how minor you will always be told. All injuries are recorded on an Accident Form and will state all details of the incident, such as the cause of the injury, first aid treatment that was given and the member of staff who dealt with the incident. You will be asked to sign this form upon collection and to ensure you are content with the way the matter was dealt with and given a copy of this form. If a child receives an injury and we feel you should be informed sooner that collection, we will telephone you using the number you give to us.

If your child receives an injury at home, when your child next attends nursery you must inform a member of staff or your child’s keyworker and complete the notification of injury at home form

This is to safeguard both children and staff.
