SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
All staff at Chatham Public School would like to wish
students and their families an enjoyable Easter and
safe holiday break.
Term 1 Week 11 Issue 5 Wednesday 9 April 2014 STRIVE TO EXCEL
THE EASTER BUNNY IS COMING!
Our ever popular Easter Hat Parade will be held, under
the COLA, this Friday. We are going to start the Parade
a little earlier (1.30pm) this year to assist families who
might have travel plans on Friday. We expect the Pa-
rade to be finished around 2.20pm. We will be drawing
the Easter Raffle at the conclusion of the Parade. The
students have been busy making their hats and already
there is an air of excitement around the school. We
hope to see you on the day.
Pictured above are Tiarnah of class 6M with Samantha
Field of class K/1W busy making Easter Hats for our pa-
rade as part of the “Better Buddies Program”.
ANZAC DAY MARCH
Our School will be participating in the ANZAC Day

appreciate our students attending this very important
event. Students are to meet Miss Welch at the corner
of Pulteney and Victoria Streets at 9.20am. Students
are to wear full school uniform (not sports uniform). It

SCIENCE & ENGINEERING DAY
Our Year 6 students
had a great time yes-
terday at the Science &
Engineering Day held
at the Taree Race-
course. Students had
the opportunity to par-
ticipate in some great
activities.
“We went to water-
works with Peter and
we had to use team-
work and hard work.
We had to fill tanks
with water and the la-
dies had a timer and
scored to 60, we got to
20.” says Sarah.
Jakson said “It was lots
of fun and really chal-
lenging. Mars Buggy
was my favourite activ-
ity”.
“The best part of the
day was when I did the
Puff Puff Car”, said
Hayley.
Jayden said “It was a
very fun and educa-
tional day. One of my
favourite parts was
building a catapult out
of sticks, sticky tape
and rubber bands”.

RUGBY UNION
On Thursday the 27th of March we had two teams com-
pete in a Rugby Union 7’s day held at St Joseph’s Prima-
ry School, Taree. There was a boy’s side and a mixed
side. Both the teams played extremely well and showed
excellent sportsmanship all day. A big congratulations
must go to the boy’s side for coming second overall.
This now means they will contest the finals of the tour-
nament at Kempsey early next term. Once again well
done to everyone involved, you represented the school
brilliantly.
Pictured above are some of the players who competed
on the day.
REGIONAL ATHLETES
Congratulations to Jess Gersbach, Brady Cross, Kalani
Cross and Jordan Moscatt who represented our school
in hockey at the PSSA Zone Trials last Friday. Charli Muir
and Ashlee Smith also represented in netball and Jade
Fowles and Braithen Smith in soccer. Of these students
Jordan Moscatt and Kalani Cross were selected to play
in the PSSA Regional Hockey Team. They will now play
in the PSSA State Championships in June at Narellan.
SCHOOL FUNDING
Our School receives money through a Resource Alloca-
tion Model (RAM). The money we receive enables us to
run our learning programs and buy resources. Our RAM
is dependent on a number of factors. One of these fac-
tors is the information that families provide us on their
student enrolment forms. Missing parental background
information can affect how much funding the school
receives.
To assist in rectifying this we are asking parents/
caregivers to complete a form. If a form has been sent
home with your child, could you please complete it and
return it as soon as possible.
This information is strictly confidential and we appreci-
ate your assistance with this very essential matter.
TYRESE AWARDED FOR EFFORT
The winner of the Chatham Newsagency gift basket for
this term was Tyrese Clarke (pictured below). Congratu-
lations and we hope you enjoy all the great goodies in
the basket. Thanks to Chatham Newsagency for their
continued support.
Don’t forget the Easter Colouring-In Competition at
Chatham Newsagency is currently on. Pick up your entry
form at Chatham Newsagency for your chance to win
some great prizes.
RUGBY LEAGUE DAY On Wednesday 2nd of April, we had 6 teams compete in
the Rugby League 7 a side Gala Day at the Rec Grounds.
There were two Year 5/6 teams, one team from Year’s
3/4 and three league tag teams. All teams played ex-
tremely well on the day and are to be commended on
the sportsmanship they displayed and the way they rep-
resented the school. A big thankyou to the 6 students
from Chatham high who assisted with the teams, they
did a fantastic job. Well done to Jarad Gibson and Charli
Muir who represented our school in the “Danny Buderus
Dash.” Jarrad came third and Charli won the event which
is a great achievement.
HEAD LICE HASSLES
We have had many reported cases of head lice so
far this year. Please ensure you check your child for
head lice and treat if required. If we all work on this
together it should not become a big problem. Thank
you for you cooperation on this matter.

CROWDY HEAD YR 6 STUDENTS TRANSITION
This term, we have had 4 students from Crowdy Head
Public School join Year 6 each Friday as part of our
Transition to High School program. While here Anita,
Cat, Kadem and Tom take part in all Year 6 activities
and have really been able to fit in with our students
and have already made many friends. We are hoping
that they will be able to continue being with us next
term and hopefully for the rest of the year. Pictured
above are Tom and Anita from Crowdy Head Public
School with friends Reece and Faith, all of Class 6M.
PREPARATIONS FOR HIGH SCHOOL
Thank you to all parents and carers who assisted me
by getting the "Expression of Interest " forms in to me
promptly. I have now sent all forms to the relevant
high schools and they are being processed now. Your
help will enable our students to have more of a
chance getting into their preferred high school as this
year many of the schools are trying to cope with in-
creasing enrolment demands.
KINDERS LOVE READING
