Our club is a group of people interested in recovering artifacts, coins, and other interesting items from the past and various historical research topics. Meetings are held on the last Thursday of every month at the back door behind Evangel Community Church on 76 Sandy Street in Chatham. Guests are always welcome. At each meeting members may enter their finds from the previous month in a Finds of the Month Competition. The programs nor-mally consist of talks by club members or invited speak-ers, slide or video shows, artifact displays or demonstra-

tions of new products.

The club maintains a small library of books, magazines and maps, which may be checked out for one

month at a time.

Our club strives to improve the public image of detector users and other amateur historical collectors.

We therefore abide by the code of Ethics.

First of all I’d like to thank the members for keeping me on as Secretary/Treasurer again this year. For those that don’t know me very well, I’m a wife and mother to two little girls aged 7 and 2. They keep me quite busy so I don’t get to go out detecting as much as I’d like to. I’ve been detecting for about 3 years now and haven’t found anything of interest as of yet but I suspect this year to find something of excitement! Something I can really talk about. I enjoy belonging to this club and being able to participate in the various organized hunts. With me running a daycare and family it is difficult to search for spots to hunt like old farms and ghost towns so it was nice to hear that Dave and Phil have local spots for our members to hunt which is a nice change from the beaches. My favorite spot to hunt is Canatara Park in

Sarnia. It’s a beautiful park with plenty of land and beach. I’m looking forward to the Stoney Creek hunt and the Sauble Beach hunt as well.

One of the jobs as Secretary of the club is to record the minutes. If any members would like to view the minutes starting when the club was first formed I have them on file. I also have old newsletters of our club and the London club on file. I mail out current newsletters to the members that are absent at each meeting if they don’t have an email. I also keep track of the club’s finances as Treasurer. This job drives me nuts most of the time. I always thought I was good with math but when figuring out the account books I sometimes have to scream! If anyone would like to view the club’s finances just ask me at each meeting as it is always available. I’m hoping to hear from

Zehr’s with information on having a BBQ to help the club earn money. It’s a quick way for the club to earn money and in only one day.

I’m really looking forward to the various outings the club has planned this year. I hope everyone finds that find of the month or

even find of the year! I wish you all safe and happy hunting!

The meeting started at 7:10 p.m. with twenty two members present including the President Phil Szucs and Vice-President Vince Gagnier.

There were two guests we’d like to welcome, Gord Thompson, Allan Holmes, and Jack Pilon.

Five more people signed on for single membership.

Kathy read the minutes from the Feb. 2005 meeting and they were accepted as read.

There will be a silent auction at next month’s meetings with the members bringing in items to be auctioned off.

Members can purchase one square for a dollar after they draw their square co-ordinates out of the tin. Once the 100 squares are full, the President will throw a dart and the person’s name in that particular square will win a Proof silver dollar with a gold Canadian flag. This coin cost

$58.00 Canadian.

was won by Con Mullen.
