    SOLEMNITY OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION

is Tuesday, December 8th. Mass will be celebrated at

Mary, "full of grace" through God, was redeemed from the moment

of her conception. Our Blessed Mother, under her title of

Immaculate Conception, is the Patroness of our country.

    2021 Wall calendars are

    available in the Narthex.

    Please take one.

Hosted by the Parish Renewal and Evangelization Committee, Diocese of Worcester.

Each day your family should gather around the Advent wreath, generally before the evening meal. The proper number of candles are then lighted and a prayer is said:

Leader: Our help is in the name of the Lord. All: Who made heaven and earth.

Leader: O God, by whose Word all things are sanctified, pour forth Your blessing upon this wreath and grant that we who use it may prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ and may receive from You abundant

graces. We ask this through Christ our Lord.

    CHRISTMAS ANTICIPATION PRAYER:

This beautiful prayer is traditionally recited 15 times a day until Christmas. This is a very meditative prayer that helps us increase our awareness of the feast of Christmas and

helps us prepare ourselves spiritually for His coming. Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in

Bethlehem, in the piercing cold. In that hour vouchsafe, O my God, to hear my prayer and grant my desires, [add your

request] through the merits of Our Savior Jesus Christ, and of His blessed Mother. Amen.

We have ceased our bottle and can drive until next March when

    the weather improves.

An Advent wreath is a circle of laurel, spruce or similar foliage with four candles that are lighted successively in the weeks of Advent to

symbolize the light that the birth of Christ brought into the world. Traditionally three of the candles are purple, the color of kings and of penance. A rose-colored candle is used to mark the Third Sunday of Advent as a time to rejoice over the closeness of Christmas and the

coming of Christ. Children love the beauty of the simple traditional ceremony. Lighting

candles in an Advent Wreath is a simple way to start a tradition of family worship in the home. Those who participate will cherish the

    experience all their lives.

  • There will not be a 'Giving Tree' set up in

the church building this Christmas season.

However, there are several ways donations

will be accepted and 'tags' can be obtained. We are accepting gift cards in any

denomination. Walmart is preferred but picking up a gift card wherever you shop

would be great. Send gift cards to St. Joseph Church at P.O. Box 338 Charlton City, MA

01508 or drop them in the collection basket or at the church office. If you wish to obtain a

PRAYER BEFORE MASS-Almighty and merciful God, may no earthly undertaking hinder those who set out in haste to meet your Son, but may our learning of heaven wisdom grain us admittance to his company. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. -AMEN

    LIGHTING THE OUTSIDE OF

    OUR CHURCH-we are most

    grateful to Ronnie's Seafood and

    Ted's Package Store for their

    donations, along with two other

parish families who have made possible the holiday

lighting on our church grounds this year. In a year

when we have been assailed by a nasty pandemic, we

thought it appropriate to brighten up the church

grounds to give us renewed hope and trust for the

    future.

We are grateful to Christmas Decor Company of

Spencer which has decorated the lamp posts and the

two magnolia trees at the entry walkway to the church.

We also owe a debt of gratitude to our electrician, Rick

Banach, and to our parish decorators, Heidi Renfrew

and Alex Diaz for their dedicated work in beautifying

the House of the Lord. Were it not for our dedicated

maintenance staff; Sherry Jovan, Ted George, Brian

Amedy, and recent new arrival, Nick Tagg we would

be hard pressed to keep our church complex in tidy

and neat order. The dedicated services of so many

people are an inspiration and we thank them all for

their ongoing dedication. God Bless them and may

God bless us, each and every one.
