Aidan Keith­Hynes Returns in July!

Charlottesville's own Aidan Keith­Hynes, who now lives inLos Angeles, returns this summer to be our DJ! Aidan hasbeen steadily rising up in the competition ranks; here he iscompeting at Jack & Jill O'Rama recently. Now teaching too,he'll make his debut with CSDS and teach a beginner lessonin West Coast Swing from 7­8 pm, included in youradmission. Our dance is from 8­11 pm with our popularWest Coast Swing Lounge, all WCS music, from 10­11 pm.Admission is $10 for CSDS members, $13 generaladmission, and $5 for full time students and first­timers. Allthis happens at the Municipal Arts Center where, along withthe music and dancing, the air conditioning will be cranking!See you at the July dance on the 18th!(Photo by Carl Lind)

Swing Fling in late July/early AugustSwing Fling is the next area West Coast Swing weekenddance event, held in Vienna, VA from Thursday July 30ththrough Sunday August 2nd. If you're thinking of going,reserve your hotel room ASAP as the event hotel alwayssells out! About 50­60 C­ville/Central VA Westies will beattending with many taking to the competition floor. Ifyou've never been to a weekend event, this is a great oneto go to, to take workshops from national pros, watchcompetitions, social dance until the wee hours of themorning, buy some dance shoes/clothing from the vendors,and meet lots of people and make new friends from all overthe country! I (Adela) organize a Saturday night pizza partyfor Central VA Westies so if you plan to be there, contactme for all the details. Here are some highlights from SwingFling 2014:
