UPCOMING GAME SCHEDULE

2013-2014

There is a chronic diseasethat can be deadly if not prop-erly monitored and managed. In fact, according to the WorldHealth Organization, it kills250,000 people worldwideeach year. It also accounts for10.5 million missed schooldays.

What is it you ask?Asthma.Asthma is sometimes under-

estimated by those who are notaware of its seriousness. Butasthmatics and their caregiversknow that it can be a danger-ous disease.

When an asthma attackoccurs, the lining of the air-ways becomes inflamed andswollen, and in some cases canclose completely. The sur-rounding muscles tighten mak-ing it increasingly difficult andpainful to breathe. Coughing

and wheezing also may accom-pany the attack. Those whohave experienced an asthmaattack may describe it as a ter-rifying experience. They feelas if they are unable to catchtheir breath or take in enoughair.

Asthma attacks can be trig-gered by a number of thingsand both triggers and asthmasymptoms can vary from per-son to person. From allergiesto foods, pets to pollens andchanges in weather to physicalexertion, environmental trig-gers are lurking everywhere.

Fortunately, although asth-ma has the potential to be dan-gerous, it doesn’t have to be.With proper monitoring andmanagement, asthmatics canhave very normal lives. “You want to educate,” saysDr. Maeve O’Connor, founder

of Allergy Asthma &Immunology Relief ofCharlotte. “Educate the child;educate the parents, theschool nurse. We can allwork together so asthmaticscan have a normal life.”An asthmatic can even pur-

sue a professional sportscareer - and many have.Olympic sprinter JackieJoyner-Kersee, NFL runningback Jerome Bettis and eventhe Carolina Panthers’ defen-sive end Greg Hardy sufferfrom asthma. Hardy, who turned the suffer-ing on opposing quarterbackswith 11 sacks last season, hasbeen afflicted with exercised-induced asthma most his life.

“I try not to let it restrictme,” he says. “Things like that, you’ve got to set an examplefor everybody and you’ve gotto keep pushing and show thatit’s not a weakness. It’s danger-ous, but you can fight throughit.”

The best way to controlasthma is to follow a physician-prescribed treatment plan.Plans will vary for each asth-matic, but may include on-going medication, rescue med-ication, inhalers or dietary

restrictions.Education is about knowl-

edge, and Hardy knows whathe needs to avoid and how toapproach the disease.“I try to stay away from a lot ofseafood because it will trigger[my asthma],” Hardysays. “Whatever triggers yourasthma outside of what you’redoing in the moment, like ath-letics, you’ve got to stay awayfrom. Just try to control it andcontain it, and stop it before itstarts.”

In order to avoid triggers,an asthmatic must first recog-nize them. Journaling eventscan be the best way to keeptrack. By recording or keepinga list of foods, weather events, etc., asthmatics, with the helpof their physician, are generallyable to identify a pattern andlearn about their triggers.

Although it is very helpful, asthmatics complain that jour-naling their symptoms, attacksand medication usage can betedious or inconvenient.Fortunately, there are nowsolutions to this problem.

A variety of smartphoneapplications can be found thatallow asthmatics or their care-givers to more easily and accu-rately monitor asthma.

Hardy suggests one morething: “A good relationshipwith your doctor and the sky isthe limit,” he says.

INSPIRATION TO ALL

CATCH YOUR BREATHYou would never know it. Imposing. Relentless. Acompetitor that stalks offensive foes with fiercetenacity on the first and very last play of everygame. Greg Hardy does this despite a life issue.

T he brothers, who go by the tag“Camp Riley,” work together on theirfilm projects. Wayne, the older brotherat 33, is a whiz in the editing bay, pro-

ducing engaging stories from raw footage. Ahigh school athlete in track and football, heattended Illinois State University on a foot-ball scholarship before getting into film. Ter-rell, 29, is out in the field, following NASCARaround the country to capture images onthe track and beyond. He studied film at theArt Institute of Philadelphia. Both brothersgot their start in filmmaking as interns atNFL Films. After college, Wayne stayed withNFL Films while Terrell headed for L.A and ajob with FOX Sports. Then in 2005, theyboth had the opportunity to come toNASCAR Productions and work as a team.

“I think it’s the best of both worlds, to behonest, working with Wayne, we kind offeed off each other’s strengths,” Terrell says.Today, the brothers occupy offices in theNASCAR office building next to the Hall ofFame. That’s where Prowler caught up withthe brothers to find out about their charity

work, their careers in film, and their fiveEmmy awards.

PROWLER: Can you tell our readers a littleabout Bears for Buddies?TERRELL: It’s a great thing to be part of. Wewant to thank Lenora and Toni (of CelebrityCharity Wishes). We look forward to partici-pating and raising funds.

P: Do you participate in any other commu-nity outreach?WAYNE: We are very involved with the localschools. TERRELL: We speak at high schools and col-leges about what to expect in the real world. And we bring in interns to work on projectsor to shadow us out in the field, both atNASCAR and on our own productions. WAYNE: We try to give them a firsthand lookat things that we thought would be coolwhen we were kids. Seeing what actuallygoes on out on a shoot. And it’s cool for usto get feedback from the kids.

CATCHING UP with the

Q & A with the EMMY AWARD-WINNING PRODUCERSHow did two guys from soutH Jersey end up in Charlotte making films for NAsCAr? Prowler magazine recently satdown with brothers wayne and terrell riley, celebrity participants in this year’s “Bears for Buddies” fund-raising drive organized byCelebrity Charity wishes, inc. (see sidebar) to talk about their jobs at NAsCAr Productions and how they like living in the Queen City.

by Renee Wright

P: How long have you worked for NASCARProductions? TERRELL: This is our ninth season.

P: What sort of things do you do forNASCAR?TERRELL: We produce a lot of stuff thatshows up on all the NASCAR platforms –Fox, ESPN, the Speed Channel. We doshort-form docs, commercials, even musicvideos, and we are getting into long formdocumentaries. You can get a taste ofwhat we do on our Camp Riley YouTubechannel.

P: What’s the biggest challenge aboutworking here? TERRELL: The schedule. This is a verydeadline driven business. We sometimeswork around the clock. Our typical workweek is sixty hours.

P: What’s the best thing?WAYNE: All the great stories: the competi-tion, the passion of the crews and drivers. And of course all the great images at thetrack. TERRELL: The drivers are becoming morepersonal, opening up more. You look atany athlete and there’s a story about theirstruggles, how they got where they are.

P: You’ve got five Sports Emmy awards (sofar) between you. What were they for? TERRELL: All our Emmys have been forOutstanding Live Turnaround on the Insidethe Headsets program that airs 24 hoursafter the Sprint All-Star race. WAYNE: It’s intense. We have 10 to 12people wired and12 or 13 extra cam-eras. We tell thestory without usingany of the broad-cast footage. Andwe turn it aroundfor next day air.TERRELL: It’s an all-nighter.

P: You also haveyour own privateproduction com-pany, Tot Lot Productions. What sort ofthings do you do there? TERRELL: We do a lot of music videos withindependent artists and labels. We’re cur-rently working on a doc about JackieJoyner-Kersee, an Olympic medalist andone of the all time great track athletes. Also we’ve done films for USA Track andField, and Wayne has built a great relation-ship with the University of Notre Damewhere they’re turning a book they createdinto videos. WAYNE: It’s a series called Strong of Heartwhere they take these stories about theiralums and turn them into short films. The

stories are so powerful.

P: What’s the coolest thing you’ve workedon?TERRELL: Going to South Africa with R&Bartist Anthony Hamilton. It was pretty coolin a couple of ways – seeing how peopleover there know him and love his music, and just seeing how people lived. Wewere able to go to an orphanage with An-thony and visit the kids and make somedonations. It really hits home – makes youappreciate what you have.

P: What’s your next project? TERRELL: For NASCAR, we’re developing aproject about fans from other countries. We get pictures and gifts from all over. Some German fans even sent us candy. Some of them come over twice a year tosee races. We think it would make a greatshort form feature.

P: How do you like Charlotte? TERRELL: We love Charlotte! It’s not toobig, not too small – just right. You’re al-ways meeting people from all over.WAYNE: Charlotte has become our home.

P: So you’re both single guys [althoughWayne has a “steady.”] Where can theladies of Charlotte expect to meet you? TERRELL: We both live in Ballantyne, andwe like to hang out in Dilworth and NoDa. WAYNE: We love to go to high school foot-ball games and Bobcat games. We go toPanthers games. We want to get out andsee one of the 49er games, that’s exciting. And we’re really looking forward to base-

ball at the newKnights Stadium. TERRELL: We likea lot of localrestaurants – 131Main, Enso, Brick-tops, Dandelion,Capital Grille,Delta’s are someof our favorites. We’re over atSauceman’s BBQa lot; we like theribs at Mac’s

[Speed Shop]. We eat out all the time be-cause we don’t cook.

P: You don’t cook? I thought your dad hada restaurant!TERRELL: He did [Wayne’s Catering andRibs]. We grew up in the family business, across the river from Philly. But the coolestthing Dad did was catering for all the pro-fessional teams – the Eagles, the ‘76ers,the Philadelphia Flyers. We got to meet thepro athletes and hear all their stories, allthe struggles athletes go through. Thoseare the stories that still intrigue us. Thoseare the stories we want to tell.

CHARLOTTE – The firstnine years of Charlotte Bob-cats basketball has left manylocal fans with a sour taste intheir mouth.

Poor records, bad decision-making and subpar playershave combined to make thefranchise the losingest in NBAhistory at a woeful .346 win-ning percentage.

But a new coach, several keynew players and the anticipa-tion of the return of a popularteam nickname have combinedto give Charlotte NBA fansmore optimism than they’vehad in years.

All the positive vibes comeafter the offseason began withsignificant uncertainty.

Less than a week after theseason ended in April with athree-game winning streak tofinish 21-61 overall and avoidthe league’s worst record for asecond straight season, teamowner Michael Jordan firedMike Dunlap after one seasonon the job.

But by mid-August, theBobcats had hired a new coachin much-coveted longtimeNBA assistant Steve Clifford, applied for and were grantedrights to the popular “Hor-

nets” nickname that’ll becomeofficial for the 2014-15 season, drafted a promising rookie(Cody Zeller), signed theirmost expensive rival free agent(Al Jefferson) and re-signedthree of their own free agents(Gerald Henderson, JoshMcRoberts and JanneroPargo).

The Jefferson signing awayfrom the Utah Jazz was easilythe most tangible indicationtimes could be changing. Thethree-year, $41 million con-tract the veteran center re-ceived was a staggering fourtimes larger than the previous

top contract the Bobcats havegiven to a free agent from an-other team.

Coupled with the re-signingof Henderson to a three-year,$18 million contract, the fran-chise did much to changewhatever notion remained of itnot being interested in payingtop dollar for top talent.

But, as Jefferson knows, ex-pectations are now growing forthe organization.

“I know the fans are very ex-cited about me being here,”said the 10-year veteran whowill give Charlotte its first le-gitimate low-post offensive

scoring option in the team’shistory. “But I don’t feel anypressure. If anything, it makesme feel real good that the fansbelieve in me.

“My goal is to not let thefans down. That’s one of thethings that made me come toCharlotte. The team was a bigfan of my game and felt thatmy game and the other guyscan turn this team around.”

But can it?Certainly more talented

pieces are in place for Clifford.“Camp is about having the

right mentality for your groupto develop a team game thatwill allow us to play againstany opponent in any game,”said Clifford, whose first Bob-cats’ training camp began onOctober 1st. “I know there willbe questions about, ‘Howmany games can you win?’ and‘How good can you be?’

“I have no idea. And I thinkthat would be the wrongmindset for me and the playersto have. We have to learn toplay together and how to playwith each other. We have todevelop a team that will allowus to play consistently againstthe best teams in the NBAnight-in and night-out.”

One thing is certain: Clif-ford will have perhaps thedeepest roster in team history, even if there is some unproven

talent in the group. At point guard, former first-

round pick Kemba Walker andRamon Sessions return andwill be joined by late seasonacquisition (and summer freeagent re-signing) Pargo.

At off guard, Henderson re-turns and should be pushed byLas Vegas Summer Leagueand European SummerLeague standout Jeffery Tay-lor. Veteran Ben Gordon alsois back and is a proven late-game scorer.

At small forward, MichaelKidd-Gilchrist vows to be bet-ter in his second season andformer NBA sharpshooterMark Price is a first-year Clif-ford assistant whose primarychore will be in helping Kidd-Gilchrist improve his shootingstroke. Tolliver and Jeff Adrienare among the potential back-ups at this position.

The frontcourt will get thebenefit of new Bobcats’ assis-tant Patrick Ewing’s expertise.

An 11-time NBA All-Star,two-time Olympian and 2008Basketball Hall of Famer,Ewing is back in coaching aftera year away.

And players like Jeffersonare quick to point out Ewing’scredentials.

“I can’t wait to work with aguy like Patrick Ewing,” Jeffer-son said of Ewing, who has

been an assistant coach for twoAll-Star centers in formerHouston Rockets center YaoMing and current Rocketscenter Dwight Howard whenHoward was in Orlando. “Ithink some people forget thathe helped make DwightHoward the superstar that heis. Dwight had the talent, butPatrick showed him how to bea true big man, especially onthe defensive side.”

Jefferson, Zeller, McRobertsand third-year Bismack Biy-ombo stand to benefit mostfrom Ewing’s coaching and ex-perience.

The regular season beginswith an October 30 road tripto Cleveland before thehome-opener against Cleve-land on November 1.

There are nine more homedates in November, includingthe first of two trips to Char-lotte for two-time defendingNBA champion Miami (Nov.16).

“So far, everything’s beengreat,” Walker said. “He (Clif-ford) has been teaching us a lotin a short period of time. Ithink everyone likes him and Ithink he’ll be really good forus.

“As far as our season, wejust want to get better. That’sthe goal. We want to get betterand grow together.”

The Bobcats releasedGaddy, O’Bryant and

Daniels in the preseason.

When and where did youracting career get it’s spark?

My parents were alwaysvery good about exposing meto culture. We frequented thetheatre and movies, so from avery young age I knew that’swhat I wanted to do. When Iwas about 11, I got involvedwith a children’s theatre com-pany in Denver. Every Satur-day morning, we sang, danced, and did sketches at a comedyclub downtown. (Amazingly, alot of those kids are still in thebiz— now heavy-hitter come-dians, writers, and producers inHollywood). Soon I/we wereacting in anything and every-thing that came out of Col-orado— “Father DowlingMysteries,” regional commer-cials, etc. Got my SAG cardwhen I was 15... Then went toNorthwestern University as a

theatre major. Four cold,Chicago winters later, I tradedin my wooly coat and wentwest to Hollywood!

How did you find out aboutthe part of Pepper and wereyou intimidated by playingthis outrageous role?

Oh, I’m not intimidated byoutrageous roles. On the con-trary— have you seen myYouTube channel?— that’swhat I excel in! As far as find-ing out about Pepper, it was anaudition like any other. Myagent called with the appoint-ment and sides to prepare, though they were very vague asto what the role actually was.The breakdown read, “4-5 feettall, possibly malformed, child-like.” Which is obviously atricky to prepare for! So I didwhat I could, wore flats and a

baby-doll dress, and just did agood job. That’s all you cando. The other girls auditioningwere actual little people, so Ireally didn’t think I had achance. But the same folks thatcast “AHS” cast “Glee,” “TheMentalist,” etc. so I just treatedit as a chance to meet casting inhopes they’d consider me forsomething in the future.

So no, to answer your ques-tion, even if I were daunted byoutrageous roles, I couldn’tpossibly be intimidated becauseI didn’t even know what I’dgotten! It wasn’t until I wascast, and saw the photos themakeup department had ma-nipulated to show what I’d looklike as Pepper did realize whatthe role even was. And eventhen, with such a star-studdedcast, I never dreamt they’d en-trust such a meaty role to anunknown actor like me. For all

I knew, I was just one of anarmy of pinheads. It wasn’tuntil I was on set for the firsttime that realized I might bethe craziest in the asylum. (Orthe craziest-looking anyway.)

By the time I’d figured it allout, it was too late to be intimi-dated... cameras were rolling, and Sister Jude was in thehouse!

It’s funny to see how lovelyyou are in your pictures ofyou beside the pictures ofyou as Pepper. You obvi-ously look nothing like her.How long did it take to doyour makeup?

About 2 1/2-3 hours, andthat’s with two SPFX guysworking feverishly on me theentire time. The makeup de-partment deserves mad propsfor my transformation.

HORROR STORIESP ROW L E R M AG A Z I N E H A L LOW E E N 2 013

Like the Greeks loved tragedies, the modern American loves a dark tale chock-full of tormented characters, epic beauty, unspeakable events and so often the ironic, twisted ending. We sat down with a few favorite TV and film stars andasked them to reveal in their own words why this love affair with all things grim and grotesque captivates our culture.

b y LO R I A N N S COT T

Q & A with Naomi Grossman“Pepper”- American Horror Story

Though I suppose I had a littlesomething to do with it too...At the end of the day, it’s justprosthetics. They sit on thecounter unless you do some-thing with them!

Any inspiration for playingPepper? How did you be-come her?

I can’t take the credit forthat. That’s all Ryan Murphy. He’s a big fan of Tod Brown-ing’s 1933 film, “Freaks,” whichstarred a microcephalic charac-ter named Schlitzie. He’s whoPepper was modeled after. So Iobviously watched that on aloop for a month before shoot-ing. As far as how I “becameher,” the makeup did a lot ofthe work. It’s kinda’ like put-ting on a costume or wig— itinforms the way you move, speak, everything. You do yourinternal work first, then put onthe external layers, and hope-fully it all comes together!

Were you aware at the timeof filming what a huge hitAHS has become?

Not quite. I’d never evenseen it before when I audi-tioned. Then once I was cast, Iwatched the entire first seasonin a week. Didn’t sleep too wellafter that! I was especiallystruck by how excellent the act-ing was, and how high the pro-duction value was. So I knew itwould catch on, if it hadn’t al-ready. But I had no idea howvast the fandom is. That thereare people creating fake Face-book accounts, role playing astheir favorite character... Ani-mating gifs, painting portraits, composing songs, posting“Pepper for President” signsaround town, even tattooingme on their limbs! The sheercreativity that Pepper has in-spired is astonishing. Part ofthat is of course due to theshow’s popularity, but I thinkit’s also the horror genre in

general. My actor-friends onprocedural dramas aren’t en-joying the same freaky fandom!

How do you like the conven-tion circuit? Any odd fansor stories?

I love it! I mean, if in fortyyears I’m still signing picturesof Pepper, I may need an inter-vention. But for now, it’s what’shappening! Besides, I get totravel, see old friends, makenew ones... I mean, it’s not ex-actly what I want to be doingnecessarily— it’s a far cry fromacting— but shoot, a year and ahalf ago nobody wanted mysignature! So it’s a nice change. As far as odd fans and stories, Iwouldn’t know where to begin!

In fact, I was thinking aboutwriting a Christopher Guest-style mockumentary about it.So I’m going to deflect thatquestion, and let you come andsee those stories in the theatreinstead!

What upcoming projects doyou have planned?

The really juicy stuff I ofcourse can’t talk about! But inaddition to a full slate of per-sonal appearances, I’m devel-oping an animated project withone of the stars of “SOA.” Itlooks like I’ll be doing a LuchaLibre, sci-fi film with Mexicanwrestling star, Mil Máscaras.I’m always looking to remountmy solo shows (in case yourreaders are in school, andwould like to have me come betheir campus entertainment!).I’m even looking to adapt oneof my shows into a TV series. So, I’m busy!

American Horror Story has become one of the top shows onTV with legions of addicted fans, has nearly 5 million “Likes” onFacebook and episodes are nowavailable on Netflix. Photo of Naomi-Mike MekashPepper Make-Up/Prosthetics: ChrisNelson and Tinsley Studio

Our Prowler gals caught up to Mark Torgl—the Toxic Avenger—a cult favorite enjoying a freshround of fandom. The Super-Hero from New Jersey was on-hand for the Mad Monster Party here in Charlotte this past February and posed with fans, signed mops and showed just how to fight off bullies.

Prowler Girls: How did you get in the acting business?I’ve been acting like an idiot since I was a little kid. Seriously, Iwas always in the high school and college plays, but gettingcast in Toxic Avenger was kind of a fluke. I was attending NYUFilm School to be a filmmaker and Troma posted a notice onthe Job Board at NYU to come work on a “real” feature filmfor “The First Turn On” —the film they made the year beforeToxic Avenger. So I met with Lloyd Kaufman and MichaelHerz and they asked what I wanted to do. I said I wanted to bethe Script Supervisor, Lloyd said “OK, you can be the ScriptSupervisor, what else do you want to do?” I said I liked writing,Lloyd said “OK, you can write some additional scenes, whatelse do you want to do?” I should have said that I wanted to direct. So, I didn’t sign on as an actor initially, but typicallyeveryone on the crew ends up in the film somewhere. Whenthe actor who was hired to play Dwayne, a real social misfit, didn’t show up, Lloyd said, “Mark you go in and do the part”.

The rest is history. The next year when they were casting forthe “Toxic Avenger” apparently they auditioned hundreds ofkids for Melvin and didn’t like anyone. Lloyd finally said whatthey were looking for was what I did on “First Turn On”.They called me up and said if I wanted the part it was mine.

Tell us what you have been up to since we saw you last? After I moved to Hollywood I was working regularly in postproduction, which I really enjoy. I’ve also made a bunch ofshort films and I did a cameo in Toxic Avenger 4 as EvilMelvin. Hollywood is doing a big budget Toxic Avenger re-make with Arnold Schwarzenegger. I would love to get acameo possibly asToxi’s dad. Everyone call the producers atLions Gate Entertainment and insist on a part for me. I’m alsoacting in my own film which is currently in production, “ToxicTutu” The almost true story of what became of ToxicAvenger’s Mark Torgl!

Which Toxie movie is your favorite? The original of course, The Toxic Avenger has a life that justwon’t quit. Being part of this cult classic never gets old. And ofcourse, Toxic Avenger 2 and 3 with Fake Melvin just didn’t cutit. Lloyd says he regrets not giving me the $50 I asked for in 2and 3.

What is your favorite toxic substance? The new film I’m working on “Toxic Tutu” there’s a drinkcalled “The Intoxicator” It’s green and very contagious.

How’s your relationship now with Lloyd Kaufman?Really good, I did an autograph signing with Lloyd and theTroma Team at ComiCon this year and I’m also appearingwith Lloyd at Stan Lee’s ComiKaze in LA Nov 1, 2 and 3.Lloyd also appears as himself in “Toxic Tutu.”

Any advice to the aspiring janitors out there?Keep your mop handle clean. Everyone always wants to holdmy mop at monster conventions.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve been asked to sign? I’ve signed a real janitors mop, a breast, and a butt. Breasts

and butts can be difficult, you have to stretch the skin out sothe signature looks right.

What advice do you have for kids that are being bulliedtoday?A part of “Toxic Tutu” has to do with Bullying. Kids shouldnot let bullies get away with it no matter what—stand yourground and let someone know. I think often if a kid stands upto a bully, the bully often ends up not being so tough.

Tell us about your new Kickstarter project and how can weget involved? It started when I was pursued by the people of The MadMonster Party to be a celebrity at their convention in Char-lotte, North Carolina inMarch. I had neverdone a convention untilthis one, and my bestfriend from NYU and Idecided to document it.We created a fictional-ized story around themonster conventionbackdrop and continuedfilming at “Days of TheDead” Los Angeles andthen at ComiCon SanDiego where Lloyd andthe Troma Crew partici-pated. We are going tobe launching a Kick-starter campaign Octo-ber 18th for 30 days toraise funds to continuefilming and finish themockumentary project. So please everyone go to KickStarter.com and look up

“Toxic Tutu”—we have some great fun incentives for sup-porters. And even if you can’t make a pledge, please spreadthe word to anyone you know who is a Toxic Avenger fan,The world needs “Toxic Tutu”. Also, go to my Facebook fanpage at www.facebook.com/ToxicAvengerMarkTorgl andgive me a “Like”. We will also be updating our progressat www.toxictutu.com.

In this edition, we're glad to sit downwith you and talk about state-of-the-art fitness, the popularity ofweight loss reality TV, the positive

impact that these movements may yethave on generations of

Americans, and give ourreaders insight intowhat Coach C. doesto inspire peoplefrom all walks oflife on a dailybasis.

Let’s startwith your currentfocal point. Todayyou run a success-ful personal train-ing company,

Impact Fitness Company—tell uswhat IFC, Co. does well?Coach C: We specialize in finding theniche for each client—fully-cus-tomized, tightly focused and effectiveworkouts that get you to yourgoal..fast. One great way to do thisthat people are getting excited about isHIGH INTENSITY INTERVAL TRAINING. Bottom line: it gets superior resultsand the time required to do the work-outs is negligible—it fits in any sched-ule. Most of my clients participate in aone-on-one or group program I call30 for 30. It’s 30 minutes, 3x per week(it’s also $30 per week). We do work-outs at gyms, fitness facilities, homegyms and area apartment communi-ties. In all, you put up 100% effort for

about 12 minutes with essential restin-between. You walk away with apeak workout behind you and the restof your day or evening. And really, youwon’t get a look like this with anythingthat feels familiar to your body. Weshock the system, turn up the heat, build the core, max your major musclesystems and the fat falls away, the me-tabolism skyrockets and your body be-comes strong quickly. Prowler: That sounds more than a lit-tle intense. Is it for everyone?Coach C:The first workout for eachnew trainee is a fitness test. We’ll lookat many factors and tailor the workoutby moving intervals and making it do-able for the trainee. We don’t overdoit right out of the gate—we build. Each workout from there, we moveforward.Prowler: You create one-on-oneworkouts in the 30 for 30 program, correct?Coach C: Correct. We also work ingroups—which are preferred becauseyou have support from others as well.Prowler: And do you recommend dietplans or diet pills, etc. in this program?Coach C: I don't recommend dietpills or quick fix diet fads, I believe thebody responds best to proper nutri-tion, exercise, rest and lots of water.Prowler: Is this similar to the trainingyou do with high school and collegeage kids who are NFL hopefuls?Coach C: It is. Every player in everysport will benefit from increased stam-ina and full body conditioning, how-ever with football, it's moresport-specific and focus is on speed, agility, power and overall athletic con-ditioning. Prowler: We hear you have a reallypromising nephew that you are reallyproud of who was brought up forACC football exhibition?Coach C: Yes!
