Naturalist Born in England on 12

February 1809 “On the Origin of Species” His discoveries gave

tremendous effect on evolutionism.

Who is Charles Darwin?

Natural population size tend to remain stable over time with constant resources.

Individuals within a population vary from one another in many ways. For example, their ability to withstand environmental changes, compete for resources and escape from predators.

Some traits which allow individuals to survive will be inherited from parents to offspring.

Those variation of traits will lead to reproduce more successful and adopted population.

Natural Selection

In September 1835, Darwin arrived in the Galapagos Island.

The evolution of Iguana

In the Galapagos Island, Green Iguanas used to live on the ground while eating cactus or some other plants.

However, their foods suddenly run out. Their peaceful life came to end.

OMG what should I eat?

He found seaweed in the sea.

He practiced swimming over and over.

Years have gone by

Marine Iguana

• Male: up to 1.7 meters (5.6ft) long

• Female: 0.6-1.0 meter(2.0-3.3ft) long

• Weight: 1.5 kilograms (3.3lb)• Habitat: Galapagos Island• Diet: Algae. Marine Iguana is a

herbivore as a Green Iguana• Distinct Features: Developed tail,

dorsal fins and limbs for swimming

Page 8: Charles Darwin

How can Marine Iguana swim?

Sharp claw allow Marine Iguana to hold onto

rocks.

Spiky dorsal fins allow it to swim further and

faster.

Flattened tail decreases the water resistance.

Assumption of evolutionism based on Charles Darwin’s theory.

Human may develop to have chloroplast to make energy by photosynthesis .
