We pride our self on giving back to the community and helping to improve the health of Australians wherever we can. Thanks to the extreme generosity of all participants at the 2014 Discount Drug Stores Conference Charity Auction and ourwonderful customers who fill the charity collection tins, Discount Drug Store have been able to take on our newest puppy! Parker is the newest addition to the Discount Drug Stores family and is the fourth Assistance Dogs Australia puppy we aresponsoring.Assistance Dogs Australia is a national charity that trains Labradors and Golden Retrievers to help people withphysical disabilities. These dogs are given free of charge to their recipients and help with tasks such as opening doors,retrieving dropped items, removing items of clothing and barking in an emergency.Assistance Dog makes a dramaticdifference in the quality of life for individuals with physical disabilities. Not only do they assist them physically, these specialdogs also relieve loneliness and social isolation, helping their owners integrate more with their local communities.
Along with financial support, Discount Drug Stores also makes it a point to provide physical help wherever we can, a mostrecent example being our mission trip to Free To Be’s Kolkata home for disadvantaged children.
Free To Be is an organisation that helps to rescue impoverished children living in Kolkata from devastating circumstancessuch as child labour and trafficking. In August 2013 a team of Discount Drug Stores staff travelled to Free To Be’s Kolkatahome bringing a range of medical and educational supplies.

Free To Be exists to facilitate child centered community development in Kolkata with the aim of improving the community’scapacity to protect children from vulnerabilities such as child labour, child marriage and child abuse and exploitation.
DISCOUNT DRUG STORES RIDES FOR MSOnce again, on the 22nd of June 2014, Discount Drug Stores participated in the MS Brissie to the Bay Bike Ride! The MSBrissie to the Bay Bike Ride is Brisbane’s largest charity bike ride and is an annual fundraising event to support people livingwith multiple sclerosis.This year, Discount Drug Stores had a team of more than 40 riders who competed across the 25km,50km and 100km bike ride courses. To date, we have raised a total of $5,858 for this very worthy cause.Discount DrugStores would like to thank everyone who participated in the event and who made donations to this fantastic cause. Thesuccess of the day could not have been achieved without your help!
