• Luke finally defeats Darth Vader in a duel. But instead of turning to the Dark Side, giving into hate, and killing Vader, as the Emperor wishes, Luke saves his father and turns him back to the Light Side of the Force.

When the Emperor tells Luke to kill his father, Luke replies, “No, Your Highness; I am a Jedi, like my father before me.” When Luke refuses to give into hate and anger, he helps his father fulfill a prophecy that had been made about him: That he would restore balance to the Force and peace to the galaxy.
