The Power of Choice
“Positive beliefs lead to effective behaviors. Effective behaviors lead to success.”
For example:• After a disappointing test score, a struggling student
thinks, “I knew I couldn’t do college math!”• This belief will likely lead the student to miss classes

• Journal writing is a way to explore your life in depth and discover your best “self”
• Self-awareness will enable you to make wise choices about what to keep doing and what to change
• Journal writing is ‘free writing’, but through On Course, it’s guided that allows you additional insights about you

Journal Writing Guidelines
1. COPY the directions for each step into your journal (just in the bold print)
2. BE SPONTANEOUS – write whatever comes to your mind. This is not an English composition course.
3. BE HONEST – this will allow you to discover yourself and your success
4. BE CREATIVE – Express your creative self. Add your favorite quotes, poems and sayings. Use color, clip arts, photos, and drawing
5. DIVE DEEP – be specific and provide examples to the point where the reader won’t have any question
