Chapter 9 (mini-unit)
Learning Target
I can use trig ratios to find missing sides and angles of triangles
• In a right triangle, you need to be able to identify the hypotenuse (its always across from the 90 degree angle)
• You also need to be able to identify the legs of the triangle that are adjacent and opposite of certain angles
• Sine (sin) of an angle =
• Cosine (cos) of an angle =
• Tangent (tan) of an angle =
Stuff to help
• You have to memorize these ratios!!!!!!

• 9-1 #1-3• 9-2 #1-6
• 9-1 #7-9• 9-2 #8-18 (SKIP 10, 12, 14, 16)
• You can also use the trig ratios to find missing angles. In order to do this you need to use the inverse of tan, sin and cos• EX: Tan X = X = tan ()
• 9-1 #13-18• 9-2 #7, 10, 12, 14, 16
Warmup
Warmup
• Angle of Elevation and Angle of Depression• Lets say, I am on the ground looking up at a
kitty in a tree (draw picture)
• Lets do 9-3 together
• P.484 18-21, p.487 37-39
• Area of a triangle given SAS• Area = • Where A is the angle and b, c are the two
sides
Practice For Quiz
• P.488 1-8• P.698 #1-8• #17-20• #9, 10• P.505 #8-21• P.508 #1-15, 26, 27• More Practice?
