THE PARTHENON The Athenians build three temples
to honor Athena with the most important being the Parthenon
It had 8 columns each on the front & back and 17 on each side
Slanted roof creating triangles known as pediments on front & back

THE STATUE OF ATHENA The statue of Athena was
located in the Parthenon and created by a man named Phidias
He carved the faces of Pericles and himself into Athena’s shield
Some people did not like this, but others claimed Phidias was the one person who had seen what Athena really looked like
