1. Hotel - lodging facility not only provides sleeping

accommodation but other related services such as housekeeping, luggage-carrying assistance, food and beverage, telephone and others

2. Motel- An establishment that provides lodging for motorists in rooms usually having direct access to an open parking area. Also called motor court, motor lodge.

• Inn – refers to small, typically rural that may or may not serve food

• Lodge – lodging establishment associated with outdoor activity such as ski lodge or hunting lodge

• Guest house/Tourist homes – refers to privately homes where the owners rent individual bedrooms to visitors

• Condominium- refers to apartment in high rise building, furnished housing unit with kitchen, living room, sleeping area and bath

• Bed & breakfast – guest house in UK and USA, smaller, more intimate, less expensive than motel and hotel

• Boarding house – residential facility that provides lodging and meals for guests.

• Nursing home – refers to residential facility that provides lodging and food service for people requiring nursing and related care

• City Center hotels - located within the heart of a city. (business, suites, residential, economy, mid-scale to luxury)

• Sub urban hotels - tend to be smaller properties which usually provide full-service, and locate in suburban area.

• Airport hotels -especially to accommodate air travellers, near the airport.

• Highway hotels - They are designed for overnight stays for car travellers, The rooms usually have direct access to an open parking lot. They are located on the outskirts of towns and cities

• Spa hotels-may include relaxation/stress management, fitness, weight management,

• Casino hotels - have gambling operations which are the major revenue centres. They also provide live entertainment. A wide variety of luxury amenities, hotel services including fine and casual dining and shopping centres are typically available on site.
