BeleriandBeleriand is located in Middle-earth’s premises. A

diversity of elves had settled in Beleriand. This starlit land is surrounded by mountains and over time a forest has grown. The Sandir culture lives

in Beleriand.

Page 5: Chapter 10

DwarvesDwarves passed over the mountains and

into Beleriand. The elves accepted the Dwarves and were shocked by their small

stature and masonry talents. The elves and dwarves willingly taught one another

their languages and talents. When the elves sought help from the dwarves, they paid them with gems of all kinds. As time passed, the only differences between the

two cultures was the dwarves strong hatred of the sea.

EvilAs the land of Beleriand progressed in beauty, evil lurked outside its boundaries.

Evil creatures started to pass over the mountains and into Beleriand. Since

violence was new to the elves, they sought war advice from dwarves. The people of

Beleriand were successful in repelling the small evil creatures that sought to invade

their land.

Beleriand’s BattleBeleriand soon felt threatened by the deadly cry of

Morgoth, a neighboring land. The people of Beleriand grew scared because they knew

darkness and death was to come. A great army silently came into Beleriand and its people fled

into the forests seeking peace. Elves decided to stay and fight for their peace and took action. The elves entered the first battle of Beleriand and successfully eliminated many orcs (evil.) The remaining orcs who fled back north were soon defeated by the axes of the dwarves.

ThingolThingol was Beleriand’s well-respected king.

Thingol knew evil armies would return for revenge. He summoned a majority of his people and had them leave Beleriand’s

grounds for safety. The people of Beleriand found their new home in Doriath, the guarded kingdom. In Doriath there was

peace at last, but fear still lingered throughout.

Darkness ReturnsSecretly and quietly evil returned to Middle-

earth. None of the inhabitants on Middle-earth had caught ear or heard rumors of the evil lurking nearby. Catching Middle-earth by surprise, Feanor had come over the sea in the white ships of the Teleri.
