Protoevangelium: “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He will strike at your head, while you strike at his heel. (Gn 3;15) Why is this sometimes called the “first gospel”?

“Tomb of St. Peter, Apostle”The first century tomb of the great apostle lies directly beneath the great dome of the Basilica of St. Peter in Vatican City-State. Between 1939 and 1949 archeologists unearthed what they believed to be the ancient crypt of Peter and in 1968 Pope Paul VI declared that indeed the bones of the apostle had been discovered.
