Chapel Hill Independent School District is in the eastern part of Smith County and is an agriculture and petroleum producing area. The district covers 118 square miles and includes a small portion of the City of Tyler,

The University of Texas at Tyler, the Jackson Community, and the City of New Chapel Hill. The district was established in the 1950-51 school year and had 12 seniors in the 1951 graduating class. Today, Chapel Hill ISD has an average daily membership of 3,236 on its six campuses: Wise Elementary (PK-2) 555 Jackson Elementary (PK-2) 411 Kissam Intermediate (3-5) 713 Middle School (6-8) 691 High School (9-12) 853 WINGS Alternative School 13 Chapel Hill ISD is blessed with an excellent child-centered faculty and support staff. There are 230 teachers, 5 librarians, 5 nurses, 8 counselors, 22 administrators, and 226 paraprofessionals assigned to the district’s six campuses. Approximately 21% percent of the certified personnel hold advanced degrees. Our teacher/student ratio is lower than the state av-erage in grades K-12. The schools are well staffed and provide an outstanding education for Chapel Hill ISD students.
