Who were the Etruscans?
• Fusion of immigrant and native populations
• Models for Roman Art and arch. – they had an impact on Greek colonies in Italy
• Etruscans – skilled at sea
Early Etruscan Art
• They used iron, tin and copper
• Trade was important, it was reflective in their own art
• Greco- Roman Gods are similar to Greek Gods
Archaic Art- Etruscan Temple 6th Century
• They loved Greek art• Only foundations of the
temples survive• Wooden columns,
wooden roof, sun dried brink walls
