Snowball

I made myself a snowball, As perfect as could be,

I thought I’d keep it as a pet, And let it sleep with me. I made it some pajamas,

And a pillow for its head, Then last night it ran away,

But first—it wet the bed!

2019 Year-End Tax Considerations for Businesses

The 2019 year-end tax guide reflects the tax considerations and developments that we believe may create risk or opportunity for busi-nesses in 2019 and beyond. It is not a holistic list of all tax issues that may affect your busi-ness, but it is designed to help you make informed deci-sions related to year-end tax planning.

The tax guide was sent by RSM US LLP to the Chamber in email format. If you would like to have a copy, email [email protected] or phone 260·463·2443 and request that a copy be emailed to you.

The 10th Annual Power of the Purse & Wallet was again a huge suc-cess. The LaGrange County Chamber of Commerce along with Business Owners, Community Members and people with BIG hearts all came to-gether to create yet another fantastic evening.

New to the event this year were the Pop-up Shops. Guests were able to sip their favorite beverage from Romer’s Restaurant and Spirits while strolling and shopping before the dinner, fashion show and auction be-gan.

The event would not be possible without our generous event spon-sors, NIPSCO, Lakeland Title, Precision Financial Group, Miller’s Merry Manor, Lakeside Occasions, Grogg-Martin Auctioneers & Realty, and Blue Gate Hospitality. A huge bonus was the fact that the LaGrange County Community Foundation matched the first $12,000.00 raised!

An array of beautiful purses, fifty-one in all were donated by various businesses and individuals .The proceeds from the event will feed county school aged children who need food over the weekends and during the holiday breaks. The money is distributed evenly over LaGrange County's three school districts to benefit their respective backpack programs.

This year’s model lineup did an outstanding job! Modeling for Head Over Heels was Robin Asby, loyal customer and one of the Real Housewives of Dallas Lake. Lydia Wolheter from Wolheter Farms modeled for You-nique Bou-tique. Erin Olinger, representing Tri Kappa modeled for The Craftsman’s Daughter. Kyle Phillip from the Bowen Center was “oh so soft” in his ensemble made completely from bamboo from Cariloha. Dr. Krystle King, owner of the King Veteri-

nary Clinic in LaGrange looked outstanding in an outfit from The Cinnamon Stick. Dr. Eva Merkel, Superintendent of the Lakeland School Corporation, modeled an adorable full length dress that would be a hit at any party or beach! Janell Dickerson, Gold Key Home Inspections, looked so elegant in her faux fur and evening wear from Sarah Davis ltd. Natalie Glick is employed by LaGrange Family Dentistry and modeled the cutest tunic and leggings from Our Front Porch. Longtime supporter of the Power of the Purse, coming all the way from Fort Wayne to help us out was Tina Rusk who modeled a casual outfit that was a little on the wild side from Options located in the Davis Mercantile. Stepping out of his comfort zone but totally “Rockin’ it” in an outfit from Head Over Heels was Dr. Randy Miller, Superintendent of the Westview School Corporation.

Many thanks to Joanna King, Stephanie Oakley and the Resource Students from Westview School Corporation for all of your help!

Special thanks to Brad & Stephanie Gough, Bradley Gough Diamonds for your generosity and congratulations to Kim Wilson for winning such an exquisite piece of jewelry.

Mark your calendars for the 11th Annual Power of the Purse & Wallet that will take place on Tuesday, November 10th at the Blue Gate Performing Arts Center.

If your business or you personally would like to donate to next year’s event before the end of the year for tax pur-poses feel free to give us a heads up at 260·463·2443 or email us at [email protected]. See you next year so that “No Tummy Goes Hungry”
