Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) is an international scientific community which has more than 6500 students and experts, and conducts scientific research and academic education. Lappeenranta Student Housing Foundation (LOAS)
• The Lappeenranta Student Housing Foundation (LOAS) is a housing community for all students in Lappeenranta. It upholds about 3000 residences for students in the best residential areas of Lappeenranta Town near the educational institutes.
• There is Lnet -network or Sonera Internet Cable -internet connection in every room.

What does it cost?
The guarantee feeBefore a tenancy agreement is signed, LOAS collects a guarantee fee of 70 euros from all the inhabitants which will be returned when the tenancy agreement has been terminated, if all the obligations have been fulfilled towards LOAS and the apartment has been signed away in a proper condition. The guarantee fee form will be send to inhabitants along with a letter which contains the offer of apartment.
Other fees- A separate fee is charged for the use of electricity, sauna and laundry roomà 15 €/month/a room.- A furniture fee is charged from the tenants who use the LOAS furnitureà 7 €/month/a room.
BedclothesA mattress, a duvet and a pillow (leave in the room when moving out). Bed linen package 8 €: A bed-sheet, a blanket cover, a pillow case, a bath towel and a face towel.
RentsRents vary according to size, condition and location of the apartment from 230 to 270 euro per month
Admissions requirements
− Educational background− Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in the field or a closely related one
− Language skills requirements (minimum)− TOEFL score 80 iBT/550 PBT or − IELTS 6.0 or *− Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) or Cambridge
Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE), level A, B or C− In addition there can be some programme specific requirements
* LUT is planning to organize IELTS language testing in its premises in Lappeenranta during the application period in February 2011. Another test is also planned to be held in Lappeenranta in May 2011.
