    Introduction

    Lecture Theme:

Rather than using constant values of variables (velocity, pressure, temperature, etc), it is more accurate to use experimental results and create profile boundary

conditions based on interpolation of values from data files

Another option is to create a profile boundary from results at some location in a

    previous simulation

    Learning Aimsyou will learn:

Output methods for Profile Boundary Conditions

    Importing Profiles, and profile format

    Visualization of imported profiles

    Learning Objectives:

To be able to use obtained data for highest accuracy CFD boundary conditions

Example of a valid Profile file. Note that the header information [Name],

[Spatial Fields] and [Data] must be entered correctly for the profile to be

valid. More details are available in the documentation

    Import into CFX-Pre

Initialize (read in) the profile in CFX-Pre. This is done by selectingTools>Initialize Profile Data and selecting the profile file. You can load

multiple profile files and each can be applied in more than one location

    Applying Profile

Assign the profile data to a boundary

condition Select the appropriate profile from

    the drop-down list, then click

    Generate Values

The Boundary Details panel will be

modified to use the profile data

These changes will not be appliedunless you click Apply

Tip: you can shift a profile bymodifying the x, y, z values passedinto the function, e.g.

    in1.Velocity u(x+10[m],y,z)

    Visualization

Boundary conditions can bevisualized in CFX-Pre

You can create a Boundary Contouror a Boundary Vector plot of theprofile data

    Usage

The profile data is read into the CFX-Solver each time the solver isstarted or restarted

(i.e. the profile file can be edited between solver runs without returning toCFX-Pre
