Seed Time & Harvest is C.F.’s ten-minute radio program on AM 1340 KDLM, broadcast
Sunday mornings at 6:50 and 10:00. Featuring Dave Seaberg.
In Session Seven, John Bevere asks some tough questions revealing our heart’s
condition toward church leaders. He also explains the difference between judging fruit and judging motives.
“In honoring a church leader, we in turn honor Jesus,” says Bevere. “That is clearly what Matthew 10 says: ‘He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet…’—we could say, ‘he who receives an apostle, or he who receives a pastor; he who receives a teacher; he who receives an evangelist in the name of an evangelist, shall receive an evangelist’s reward.’”
“So in honoring a church leader, we in turn honor Jesus. And in honoring Jesus, we honor God the Father. God then says, ‘Those who honor me, I will honor and those who despise me shall be lightly esteemed.’ That is I Samuel 2:30. That is the honor principle that we have based this whole curriculum off of. Our attitude toward God is reflected by our behavior toward church leaders. You cannot say you fear God if you do not have respect for church authority.

This week, we’re prayingfor the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Vergas, with Pastor Robert Hinckley.
Last week, a group of nine adults met for the first time at the home of Matt &
Christin Mohr in Frazee to view and discuss Lump, a video by Rob Bell.
“We wanted to get something going for the younger generations in the church,” explains Matt. “Get people stirred up and moving in the 20 and 30 range—where there’s not much going on and we’re not doing much either… If we’re sitting idle; then our kids will sit idle, too.” Matt added that people outside that age range are welcome to come, too.
Each Wednesday night at 6:00, the group will watch a 12-minute video from Bell’s NOOMA series, and then discuss it. This week’s video is Sunday:
Why do we do the things we do? Why do we go to church or give money away? Because we’re supposed to or because we think God needs it? Do we honestly put on our best clothes for an hour once a week, stand and sit at all the right times, and sing all the appropriate songs for God’s sake, or because it’ll make us look better to the world around us? We’re tired of all the empty rituals and routines. And so is God. God hates it when we call ourselves Christians but ignore all the things he really cares about. He hates it when we go through hollow religious routines out of some feeling of duty or obligation. God doesn’t want the meaningless rituals. God wants our hearts.
