• The red indicator lights: The battery level is low. Quickly save current data and power off your computer. After connecting the AC adaptor or replacing the battery pack with a fully charged one, turn your computer on.

• The red indicator blinks: The battery pack or recharging function may be defective. Quickly save current data and power off your computer. Remove the battery pack and disconnect the AC adaptor, then connect them again.

• The orange indicator blinks: Unable to recharge due to violation of temperature limits. The ambient temperature is outside the allowable range. Once the allowable range requirement is satisfied, charging begins automatically.

• The orange indicator is steady: Battery is charging. The Battery indicator is off: Laptop is running on a charged battery.

• Before running the PC-Diagnostics utility, please press F2 at the Panasonic logo to enter setup.• Press F9 to load default settings, then press “Yes” for the default settings to be loaded.• Press F10, then press “Yes” to save settings and exit.

To access the PC-Diagnostics Utility, please press CTRL + F7 at the Panasonic screen.

• The Diagnostic Utility will start diagnosing all the devices.

• If any of the devices fail, the Utility will display “Test Failed” and a red indication will display next to the device.

• If all devices pass the test, the Utility will display “Test Passed” and all devices will display a green indication next to their icon.

• Memory and HDD can be toggled between quick test, Full test or No test by clicking on the device icon.

Shut down Windows and wait for laptop to power off.

Disconnect the AC adaptor & remove the battery.

Remove the optional DIMM memory card and PCMCIA card if available.

Remove other devices if they are connected.

Follow proper procedures to control ESD.

Removing the HDD

• Remove 2 screws (B) to remove the HDD cover.

• Disconnect the HDD FPC connector and remove the HDD from the HDD Sleeve.

Removing the Keyboard

• Remove the 5 protection sheets as shown in figure.

• Remove the 5 KBD hooks.

• Remove 4 screws (C).

• Remove the KBD side covers L & R by releasing the hooks as shown by the following figures using a plastic spudger to avoid scratching the plastic.

• Lift the KBD from the LCD side and carefully turn it over the palm rest.

• Remove 1 screw (J) & 2 screws (K) then remove the Bluetooth Antenna and WLAN Main & Sub. Antennas.

• Remove 1 screw (L) and slide the axis holder in the direction of the arrow shown in figure then remove the shaft cushion.

• Release the Disk Cover Lock mechanically by pressing the release button as shown in figure.

• Remove the disk cover assembly.

• Disconnect the BT Antenna Coaxial cable.

Removing the speaker & Bluetooth Unit

• Remove 1 screw (R) & remove the shock drop.

• Peel off all tape holding the speaker wires, unhook the wire from the KBD center hook.

• Remove the cable from the rib of the Water Cap then remove the speakers.

• Remove 2 screws (M), remove the BT coaxial antenna cable then remove BT PCB.

Removing the Solenoid

• Remove the WT Cushion.

• Remove 1 screw (S) then remove the Solenoid.

• Remove the Disk Cover Lock Spring and remove the Disk Cover Lock Sliding it to the right.

• Remove the PET Tape.

• Remove the 2 hex-head screws (T).

• Peel of the PET Tape and remove the HDD FPC Unit & the FFC from connectors (CN1000, CN1005).

• Remove 1 screw (U) then remove VGA USB PWB SUB Unit.

Removing the MDC Modem

• Peel off the MDC Hold Cushion’s upper side then disconnect the connector of the HDD FPC unit and remove 1 screw (V).

• Peel off the PET Tape, unplug the Modem cable and remove the Modem.

• Disconnect the FFC from connector (CN1100).

• Remove 1 Screw (W) then remove the Drive SW Board & Disk Eject Knob.

• Remove 1 screw (X) then remove the SW LED PUB SUB Unit, the Power Knob & the Wireless SW Knob.

Removing the Main Board

• Remove PET Tape.

• Remove the HDD FPC Unit & the Drive FPC from the connectors (CN5, CN6, CN7) then remove the LAN Cable Connector (CN16).

• Disconnect Connector (CN9).

• Disconnect the LCD Cable connectors (CN11, CN12) then remove the LCD cable from the DC Jack Holder Rib.

• Remove 1 screw (Y) & DC Jack Hold Cushion then remove the DC Jack Holder.

• Remove 2 screws (Z) & 1 screw (a).

• Turn over the MB with the DC Jack Cable Connector (CN701), Lithium Battery Connector (CN3) then remove the DC Jack Cable and Lithium Battery.

• Disconnect the WLAN Coaxial cables Black & White (Black is Main), remove the 2 screws then remove the WLAN Module.

Remove the SP Hold Cushion.

• Peel off the PET Tape, remove the HDD FPC from the connectors (CN5, CN7, CN1000).

• Remove the Lithium Battery & the Conductive cloth A, then remove the HDD FPC Unit.

Removing the Antenna Board Assembly (Black/Main)

• Remove the Line Hold Sheet and PET Tape.

• Remove the Antenna Cable from the MODEM LAN Holder & remove the Antenna Board Assembly (Black/Main).

Remove the Antenna Board Assembly (White/Sub)

• Disconnect the Antenna Board (White/Sub) from the WLAN Module.

• Peel off the flange of the WLAN cable sheet to remove the Antenna Board Assembly (White/Sub).

• Peel off the WLAN Insulation Sheet from the side of the WLAN Module, remove 1 screw (c) & 1 screw (d).

• Remove the Hook (D-1),push in the stopper on the center part of the lever & pull out the lever to the maximum, remove the Hook (D-2) then remove the PCMCIA Ejector.

Remove the Fan

• Peel off the CPU Insulation Sheet, disconnect the Fan Connector (CN29).

• Peel off the Line Sheets from the Main Board PCMCIA side.

• Remove 5 screws (f) then remove the Fan.

• Disconnect the LCD Cable Connector (CN11,CN12), remove the LCD Cable from the DC jack Holder rib.

• Remove 1 screw (g), DC Jack Hold Cushion and remove the DC Jack Holder.

Removing the LCD Cabinet

• Remove the line processing Tape (2 places).• Remove the Drive FPC from the Connector (CN401)

to remove the Drive Unit.• Remove 2 Hexagonal Head screws (T).• Peel off the PET tape to remove the HDD FPC and

FFC from connectors (CN1000 and CN1005).• Remove 1 screw (U) then remove the VGA USB

PCB.• Peel off the flanges of the Battery cushion, PET

tape, Line Hold Sheet and the right Speaker cushion.

Removing the LCD Cabinet

• Remove the WWAN cable from the hook part of the config cover.

• Remove 2 screws (h) then remove the display.

• Remove 2 screws (i) .• Release 18 hooks to separate the LCD Cabinet.

• Remove 1 screw (k) from LCD rear case then remove the LCD Hook.

• Peel off the PET (3 locations), Line Hold Sheet 9 (1 location) and Line Hold Sheet (3 locations).

• Remove WWAN Antennas ( Main & Sub) from the LCD rear cabinet.

• Remove 2 screws (n) then remove the Ground Spring.

Removing the Inverter & LCD Cable

• Peel off the PET tape ( 3 locations).• Peel off the conductive cloth then remove the Hinges

(L & R).• Disconnect the LCD Connector (CN101), the Inverter

Connector (CN1) then remove the LCD Cable.• Pell off the Inverter Tape and release the Inverter with

its Case from the Double sided tape.• Disconnect the connector CN2 connecting the Inverter

to remove it from the unit.

Removing the LCD / LCD Front

• Remove the LCD protection plate, peel off the LCD Side cushion and the LCD bottom cushion.

• Separate the Display device from the LCD Front.

Note: it is recommended not to separate the LCD from the plastic bezel as the LCD might crack. Replace LCD and front bezel for the customer then return the bad LCD with its front bezel to our National Service Center.

Reassembly

• Reverse the steps for assembly.• Please refer to the service manual for safe cable processing. (it is

important to make sure that none of the cables get pinched, so routing of the cables in the right places is critical.)

• Use new tape, sheets and conductive Tape.• Please execute writing BIOS ID when you exchange the Main Board.
