BBFC

The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), before 1985 known as British Board of Film Censors, is a non-governmental organization, founded by the film industry in 1912 and is responsible for the national classification and censorship of films within the United Kingdom. Their job is to protect the public, and especially children, from content which might raise harm risks. Make people aware especially parents what the film is going to include. Recognise and respect adult freedom of choice within the law. Respond to and reflect changing social attitudes towards media content through proactive public consultation and research. To summarise, they decide what is appropriate and who for and represent it with ratings which normal is in age e.g. 12a.

Explanation

Reviewing these ratings and researching thriller movies, i can come to a decision to make my thriller movie rated at 15. This is because i believe under this age of 15 could disturb and distress the audience and therefore they may not be capable of handling this. Certification at 15 seems to be an ideal certification for my movie as many other thriller genres are based around this certification. Furthermore, it seems to be more appropriate to make it at this age due to the maturity in addition to them being able to ‘handle’ the movie.
