Entrust Datacard, a leading provider of trusted identity and secure issuance technology solutions, today announced
two new high-assurance offerings for the company's unified authentication management platform: Passwordless
Single Sign On (SSO) Authentication to improve workforce security and productivity, and Identity Proofing with fully
digital identity verification for accelerated customer acquisition and onboarding.
As digital transformation, cloud deployments and mobile initiatives make communication, data storage and remote
workstyles dramatically simpler, employees and customers around the world expect security features to follow suit,
without compromising user experiences. The latest Entrust Datacard authentication solutions both increase high-
assurance security, and simplify user experiences.
Entrust Datacard's Passwordless SSO Authentication solution turns employee smartphones into biometrics-
protected virtual smart cards that allow instant proximity-based login to both workstations and applications. The
solution creates a frictionless authentication experience, eliminating passwords and putting an end to the risk of bad
actors stealing user credentials and compromising critical information.
Taking passwordless login to an SSO experience removes the friction of individual registrations and logins for each
device, allowing employees to work across devices and applications – cloud-based and on-premises. The solution
improves workforce productivity by enabling employees to securely conduct their work activities – email signing, file
encryption, document signing, and more – from their office or remote location without the need to upgrade their
hardware or operating system.
Entrust Datacard's new Identity Proofing solution lets banks, hospitals, government agencies and other customer
and citizen-facing organizations offer customers a simple, seamless onboarding experience, either inside or outside
physical locations. With Identity Proofing, customers use their smartphones or a kiosk to capture their images and
scan government-issued identity documents – such as a driver's license, passport or national ID card – for fast, AI-
based authentication and verification.
Once authenticated and verified, the user can complete their account application securely. This minimizes
abandoned account applications, cuts onboarding time from multiple days to minutes and has the potential to reduce
an organization's onboarding costs from hundreds of dollars per account to single digits. The fully digital Identity
Proofing solution supports compliance with regional regulations, such as Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-
Money Laundering (AML) in the United States, and PSD2 in Europe.

The latest report of GlobalData titled “Vietnam Cards & Payments: Opportunities and Risks to 2023″ mentioned
that Vietnam’s e-commerce market value has doubled in the past five years with total online spending increasing
from 90.1 trillion dong (3.9 billion US dollars) in 2015 to 218.3 trillion dong (9.4 billion US dollars) in 2019.
The development and popularity of the Internet and smartphones, along with a young population structure, has
boosted the e-commerce market in Vietnam over the years. According to forecasts from GlobalData, the total
online spending will increase at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 16.3 percent from 218.3 trillion
dong (9.4 billion US dollars) in 2019 to 399.5 trillion dong (17.3 billion US dollars) in 2023.
Nikhil Reddy, a banking and payment analyst at GlobalData said that “While traditional payment tools such as
cash, cards and bank transfers are widely used for purchase through e-commerce sites, consumer preference
for alternative payment methods is increasing. There is a growing demand for faster and more convenient
payment methods, particularly for tech-savvy generations.”
According to GlobalData’s Global Banking and Payment Survey 2019, cash is still the most preferred payment
method for purchases made through e-commerce sites in Vietnam, accounting for 35.6 percent of the total trading
value in 2019; followed by cash payment and bank transfers with respectively 28.4 percent and 20.5%.
Alternative payment solutions are gradually dominating and currently accounting for 15.5 percent of market
share. The survey also showed that MoMo is the most preferred alternative payment solution in Vietnam, followed
by PayPal.
The strong growth of e-commerce has encouraged global companies to increase investment in Vietnam. In 2018,
Tiki respectively received 5.3 million US dollars and 44 million US dollars from VNG Corporation and Chinese
investor JD.com. in that year, Japanese financial group SBI Group and some other companies based in Asia
also invested a total of 51 million US dollars in another online shopping platform in Vietnam Sendo. Notably,
Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba invested an addition of two billion US dollars into Lazada, one of the leading
e-commerce businesses in Vietnam.
“The upgrade of payment infrastructure, the increasing consumer confidence in online shopping, and the ability
of convenience payment solutions are expected to spur Vietnam’s e-commerce sector in the coming years,”
Nikhil Reddy concluded.

The volume of contactless payments for transportation on OEM’s payment vehicles was tipped to jump by 177 per cent over the next five years, driven mainly by the convenience of using mobile ticketing services, Juniper Research predicted. It predicted the number of contactless ticket payments made globally on OEM-provided set-ups would grow from 4.9 billion in 2020 to 13.6 billion in 2024. Research analyst Susannah Hampton explained mobile contactless ticketing had “gained momentum by prioritising convenience, as with Apple Pay Express Transit“. “By offering increasingly frictionless traveller experiences, OEM Pay providers can become integral to the transit market”. The market is expected to be further catalysed by rollouts of contactless payment systems in large cities, similar to OMNY which is being implemented in New York City and its surroundings. Juniper Research forecast the value of global payments conducted via OEM pay transactions, will surpass $1 trillion in 2024, up by 200 per cent from $333 billion in 2020. The spike is predicted to be driven by Apple Pay’s growth in China and the US, along with expansion of offerings by rival providers. It expects the value of Apple Pay transactions to 240 per cent over the forecast period. Juniper Research also predicted China will be an important driver of increased contactless usage, as the market had “an affinity for mobile payments, with rapidly rising contactless acceptance at point-of-sale”. The company predicted this would see China account for 33 per cent of total OEM pay transaction values by 2024, compared with 19 per cent in 2020.

Digital banking platform Me by TMB and KBank in Thailand are each releasing new biometric services for opening
savings accounts using electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC), writes Bangkok Post.
Customers can now open new accounts in Me Save using the digital platform, they no longer have to be physically
present in a branch, according to Benjarong Suwankiri, head of Me by TMB.
Deposit accounts with TMB can be opened using a smartphone that has Android NFC. Customers will need both
an ID card and passport for facial authentication.
The e-KYC process has two stages. The first through facial recognition works only for current customers interested
in opening a new deposit account, while in the second stage users can open bank accounts by using cross-bank
identity verification through the National Digital ID (NDID) platform.
According to the Bank of Thailand, KBank, Siam Commercial Bank, Bangkok Bank, Bank of Ayudhya, TMB Bank
and CIMB Thai Bank are conducting trials for cross-border identity verification in the regulatory sandbox.
KBank’s first phase of e-KYC has exited the regulatory sandbox, confirmed Supreecha Limpikanjanakowit, first
senior vice-president. The bank has been collecting and updating customers’ facial information since last year, to
prepare for biometric facial recognition deployment.
Me has also tested cross-bank identity authentication, as it is expected to improve transaction convenience.
Customers opening new digital deposit accounts on the NDID platform have to present their IDs through a
smartphone.
“We expect our second phase will exit the regulatory sandbox in the second half. We will then set a clearer plan
about expanding digital deposit account opening,” said Mr Benjarong.
KBank has meanwhile increased the number of dip-chip points where users can insert ID cards into a reader for
authentication. Future plans include installing 100,000 dip-chip points nationwide in 2020. There is no target set for
K-eSaving accounts yet, given market uncertainty.

More than 9 million Americans have their identities stolen each year, with many US citizens still unable
how to protect their sensitive information.
According to data gathered by PreciseSecurity, the number of identity theft complaints in the US increased
by 45% and reached over 650,000 in 2019. With more than 270,000 reports, credit card frauds
represented the leading type of identity theft crime in 2019.
Identity thieves usually target people who don`t report suspicious activity on their credit reports and don’t
regularly check for identity theft warning signs. In 2015, the Federal Trade Commission Consumer
Sentinel Network received nearly 80,000 reports of people whose information was used for credit card
frauds. However, by the end of 2019, the number of Americans reporting this type of identity theft crime
jumped to 271,823.
The 2019 data revealed that Americans in their thirties were the most exposed to credit card frauds, with
74,572 complaints or nearly 30% of all reports in 2019.
More than 55,600 complaints were from people in their fifties, making it the second-largest age group in
the total number of reports. US citizens in their twenties ranked in third place with over 43,000 credit card
fraud reports in 2019.

WHO urges switch to contactless to slow virus
transmission
The World Health Organisation is advising consumers to avoid handling bank notes and instead switch to
contactless payments to deter the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
The WHO's advice comes after China and Korea began isolating and disinfecting used bank notes, which
are known carriers of viruses and bacteria.
A 2017 study of used bank notes in New York found 397 distinct bacterial species crawling across the bills.
A World Health Organisation spokesperson told The Telegraph: 'We know that money changes hands
frequently and can pick up all sorts of bacteria and viruses.
'We would advise people to wash their hands after handling banknotes, and avoid touching their face.
'When possible it would also be advisable to use contactless payments to reduce the risk of transmission.'

AML/KYC Compliance Riffs On
Biometrics Anti-money laundering (AML) and know your customer (KYC) regulators have released the
hounds, with billions in fines leveled by governments worldwide against financial institutions
(FIs), online marketplaces and other entities in recent months for various violations.
Penalties are a motivator, as is evident from reading the March 2020 AML/KYC Tracker®
done in collaboration with Trulioo. The European Union’s Fifth Anti-Money Laundering
Directive (5AMLD) went into full effect in January of 2020, as a slew of new American data
privacy laws delivered a pincer-like movement to the commercialization of data.
Solution providers, government agencies and financial consortia are innovating like mad to
meet strict new identity standards – ahead of the other strict new specs coming next year.
The Real You
Biometrics are a major focus of the AML/KYC activity, as it digitally captures
people’s identities. That’s the ambitious objective, and it even helps bridge
issues of inclusion around those without formal identification, as well as the
unbanked. Even with the interruptions to global travel and supply chains caused
by the COVID outbreak, cross-border trade and tourism will go on.
That fact keeps pointing in the direction of global trusted identities that are
founded on biometrics and able to cross borders and transact. “In order to
quickly adapt AML efforts, payment processing companies should consider
flexible, scalable and interoperable technology that can easily be reconfigured
for many in-market conditions coincidingly,” Zac Cohen, chief operating officer
of identity solutions firm Trulioo, told PYMNTS.
“Additionally, for identity verification, a layered approach that applies the correct
screening and onboarding workflows for the right customer at the right time is
the way to go if these companies want to obey the ever-evolving laws and
regulations around AML globally,” he said.

Fast-moving fraudsters have exploited the coronavirus to scam more than USD 1
million from victims who were fearful about the growing pandemic.
Hundreds of thousands of dollars were lost before law enforcement were able to
stop cybercriminals siphoning away the cash in a series of rapid, multiple transfers.
Interpol warned that scammers are targeting people buying protective masks, hand
sanitisers, and medical items online, after shelves in bricks-and-mortar stores were
stripped of products. Moreover, the law enforcement agency detected a surge in
fake callers who claimed to be medical doctors demanding money to treat sick
family members.
As a result, over USD 1.1 million has already been seized by Interpol, with police
forces around the world freezing bank accounts before the fraudulent cash was
stolen forever. The range of financial scams Interpol was investigating included
telephone fraud, where the callers posed as doctors, and email phishing
campaigns, nine.com reports.

AML/KYC Compliance Riffs On Biometrics (cont.)
The Digital Identity Tour
Onboarding is where many AML/KYC problems begin, and regulators are
scrutinizing account origination in their efforts to stem the flow of illicit dollars
and straight-up theft.
The March 2020 AML/KYC Tracker® details the drama still unfolding in India
over a year after the Supreme Court there struck a credentialing blow to digital
banks and FinTechs. It’s a bit of a mess, with an estimated 200 million verified
users requiring reauthentication under the ruling.
Meanwhile, in Thailand, six financial institutions (FIs) have linked up to use new
eKYC biometric remote scanning to meet verification requirements. It’s an
experiment that others around the banking sphere are watching, as it leverages
the collective strengths of FIs. Similar tests are underway from the United Arab
Emirates to Uganda, the inner workings of which can be found in the latest
AML/KYC Tracker®. It’s all part of the move to trusted digital identities.
“Digital identities can help, as the credentials can be accessed online from
anywhere and are not dependent on individuals finding and retaining physical
documents,” the report states. “Organizations must be careful to ensure data
security and consumer privacy when creating online IDs, however. Countries
have already taken different privacy issue approaches: Some are eagerly
collecting residents’ biometric information, while others are more cautious about
gathering such sensitive details.”

“An ninh điểm cuối khác với quản lý công nghệ thông tin.
