Certified Tobacco Cessation Specialist (CTCS)Innovative Cancer Care and Rehabilitation Pvt. Ltd. (ICanCaRe) announces three-day certificate course to become a Certified Tobacco Cessation Specialist through Classroom Learning and Instructor led Training.

Recognised as a complex disease by WHO, Tobacco is the leading cause of 1 million preventable deaths in India. Medical experts should imbibe cessation in their practices and to ensure the success of cessation, ICanCaRe has designed a comprehensive course for healthcare providers and medical experts to learn in detail about the latest methodologies of counselling, pharmacotherapy and relapse prevention.

Certificate course titled “Certified Tobacco Cessation Specialist” provides comprehensive knowl-edge about principles of counselling including Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Group Counselling. This course also helps the candidates to learn about pharmaco-therapy, relapse prevention, treatment planning, detection of oral lesions, documentation for eval-uation and analysis, community programs and regulations about tobacco including COTPA, MPOWER and FCTC.

Basic Qualification & Eligibility for non-medical domain

Course Material

Assessment

Candidates from non-medical educational background have to submit an essay of not more than 1500 words specifying their reason for joining this course, how will they benefit and apply this knowledge for better healthcare. Submissions are to be made 15 days prior to the com-mencement of the course at [email protected] with a subject line “Essay_CTCS”. Eligible candi-dates will be informed 7 days prior to the commencement of the course via email.

The cost of the course material is included in the course registration fees. The course material that includes, course information booklet, course book titled “Tobacco Cessation – A Compre-hensive Guide” and all other required materials for every module shall be distributed on the first day of the course to registered candidates. Handouts for every session will be given during the concerned subject discussion

Candidates have to undergo an assessment of 1 hour on the last day of the training program. It will comprise of MCQs and case studies to test the learning and understanding of the candidates. A minimum of 55% has to be secured by the par-ticipant to be awarded the “Certified Tobacco Cessation Spe-cialist” certificate by Gujarat University.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates can either fill the form online and register for the course at www.icancare.in/Certif-icateCourse or they can fill hard copy of the application form and submit at ICanCaRe’s office along with the fees of the course. Fees can be paid online or through demand draft drawn in favour of "Innovative Cancer Care and Rehabilitation Pvt Ltd" payable at Faridabad.

A yearly calendar shall be made available for the course. Sessions will be conducted for medi-cal students in their college premises if there are atleast 20 candidates. Session dates will be planned with the Dean and intimated in advance to the students.

HOW to Apply

A course completion certificate shall be issued to the participant by Gujarat University through ICanCaRe upon successfully completing the sessions and assessment (55%).

Certification

The course co-ordinators are responsible for grading all the candidates assigned to them. The credits will be awarded after completing all course requirements. Candidates, who have already registered for the course and wish to opt out of the course for reasons whatsoever, can write an email to [email protected] requesting for cancellation at least 7 days prior to the commencement of the course. Full refund of the course fees excluding the GST shall be made to the con-cerned participant within 15 working days. Only a 50% refund will be made to candidates if can-cellation request is received in between 7 days of commencement of the course sessions.
