Element Six acquires semiconductor specialist
The 100 mm Gallium Nitride (GaN)
on-diamond wafer, uses Element
Six’s synthetic diamond to enable
high performance semiconductor
technology, allowing manufactur-
ers to produce smaller, faster and
higher power electronic devices.
Hardmetal specialist Element Six has acquired the assets and intellectual property of Group4 Labs Inc, a semi-conductor wafer materials manufacturer. The acquisi-tion will expand Element Six’s semiconductor portfolio for defence and commercial applications. Group4 makes gallium nitride (GaN) on-diamond semiconductor technology for RF and high-power devices and developed the first com-mercially available composite semiconductor wafer that includes GaN and diamond.
The semiconductor wafer is designed for companies
involved in the manufacture of transistor-based circuits with high power, temperature and frequency characteristics.
