Enterprise Task Management (ETM) is a rule-based workflow tool within the Centricity Business suite that helps organizations like Stony Brook University drive high performance revenue cycle. With all the waste and inefficiency in the healthcare system today, Centricity Business ETM helps provide low-touch capabilities that remove manual touches to the revenue cycle. ETM reduces waste and inefficiency that improves revenue cycle performance and productivity.

ETM has enabled Stony Brook University Physicians to improve their accounts receivable (AR) and increase operational efficiencies in accounts receivable management. Stony Brook uses ETM to work claim edits, insurance follow-up tasks, TES, registration and appointment follow-up tasks. Other workflows are driven by ETM statuses and stages. The tool provides real-time updates to accounts receivable and enables Stony Brook to monitor trends with payers more quickly and efficiently. The removal of reliance on paper-based worklists and paper-driven “account notes” has made the business office much more efficient. Additionally, according to Susan Hall and Elisa Betancourt, Directors of Revenue Cycle, “A new hire can virtually jump right in with minimal training and become a productive member of the operation within one week as compared to the 6-8 weeks of formal training and mentoring it used to take.”

The management team from GE’s Business Services attributes the following improvements to their implementation and use of ETM:

• ReduceAccountsReceivabledaysby11%withinthefirstyear of implementation and have been able to sustain our days in A/R as volumes have increased.

• Eliminatepapercostsby40%

• Improveproductivitycollectionsfrom6-8accountsperhour per full time employee (FTE) to 9-11 per hour per FTE
