BUSINESS ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM

The Center for Entrepreneurial Innovation (CEI) at GateWay Community

College, is the only business incubator in Phoenix that provides integrated

services, space and support for entrepreneurs and small emerging

companies. We work with all types of businesses, from non-technology,

service and manufacturing to high technology, bio technology, scientific

and renewable energy – any company except bricks and mortar retail.

CEI clients partner with us for our full engagement program, designed

to build a strong foundation for long-term sustainability and growth.

We engage with clients in

two ways. Resident clients

operate their businesses

out of CEI’s high-tech

facility, taking advantage of

a dynamic and collaborative

business environment

without costly overhead

expenses.

Affiliate clients use the shared office environment when needed,

primarily conducting their business out of their own offices

or laboratories. All clients receive business development assistance,

coaching and mentoring from staff, mentors and partners.

RESOURCES THAT TRANSFORM BUSINESS

CEI offers a nurturing

environment through

all stages of business

development, moving

clients from discovery

and development to

commercialization. Our

CONFERENCE ROOM

LOBBY

clients will receive assistance with a variety of business development needs,

including developing a strategic plan and seeking investors, to mentoring and

providing access to business resources and professionals.

CEI draws on an extensive

network of business

specialists to provide

management advising for our

client companies. We consult

on marketing, distribution,

manufacturing, accounting,

legal issues, human

resources, financing (through

loans, angel investments, venture capital, and grants), and other areas. These

services are provided through one-on-one consulting, mentors, professional

service providers and an entrepreneurial network.

MENTORS, NETWORKS, ACCESS RAISE THE BAR

CEI matches the needs of your company with the expertise of its mentors,

a select group of business volunteers. A team of mentors, who are experts

in their field, work with you

to provide feedback and

advice to help you grow your

business intelligently.

Professionals, such as

accountants, lawyers,

marketing specialists,

engineers and more,

volunteer their services to

help client companies for a preset number of hours. As an incubator client,

you may use these services on an as-needed basis, and a fee structure will

be negotiated after exhausting your preset hours.

BREAK ROOM SPACE

COLLABORATION SPACE

The managers of the CEI client companies meet regularly to discuss

business challenges. This face-to-face network provides a valuable

resource for those young, growing businesses.

In addition, through

GateWay’s educational

offerings, you will be able

to partner with faculty

and academic programs,

providing an opportunity

for students to experience

hands-on learning through

internships and class

projects. Faculty and students can lend their expertise in solution creation

in the areas of sustainable technologies relating to water and solar, as well

as in manufacturing, automotive and health sciences.

CUTTING-EDGE SPACE FOR INNOVATING

Features of the CEI include

office space, as well as dry

and wet labs that

can be used on a short-

or long-term basis. In

addition, Wi-Fi, conference

rooms, storage space, and

innovative/collaborative

spaces like the break room,

workroom and patios are available. And you will have 24/7-access

to your office or lab space, with security in place to keep your work safe

and confidential.

Phase I of the new business incubator will be completed in November,

and will have 12,600 square feet of space. Phase II will offer an additional

5,500 square feet and will be finished in April 2012.

SOWING THE SEEDS FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

The central location for the Center for Entrepreneurial Innovation near Sky

Harbor Airport and Downtown Phoenix provides easy access from almost

anywhere in the region. The intent of the center is to accelerate job creation

for the community and the region. The college raised $6 million for the Center

for Entrepreneurial Innovation through funding partners, such as the City

of Phoenix, U.S. Economic Development Administration and BlueCross

BlueShield of Arizona.
