It is the mission of John A. Logan College, through our Midwest Center for Excellence in Emergency Preparedness to provide training and make “ready” the general public and responders in an emergency. We believe our mission can be accomplished with the coop-eration of Federal, State and local Emergency Management officials providing training as needed. It is our belief that if one life is saved, loss of property is reduced and this train-ing has helped to prevent, protect, respond and assist an individual, family or community to recover from an emergency than we have met our goal.

Free Emergency Preparedness Training National Incident Management (NIMS)
John A. Logan College is a provider of Emergency Preparedness Training, to include National Incident Management System (NIMS) training. The college has established a cooperative relationship with Homeland Security, FEMA and area professionals to provide training to the local area. Everyone needs to be prepared for emergencies as they can strike at anytime with little or no warning! Although many of our
courses help prepare our professional first responders such as Firemen, law enforce-ment, medical and emergency managers, it’s important that others get involved in emer-gency management as well. The better you are prepared the better chance you and those persons you care about have in surviving an incident. We have training programs available to business owners, educators and families. Our training programs, which are available to everyone, help familiarize students with the four main factors of emergency preparedness; to include how to prevent, protect, respond and recover from an emer-gency. The knowledge these courses provide could save the lives of your friends and loved ones!
The following is a general list of training courses we have available. This list is primarily a topic list; however, we often have multiple courses in each of these areas.
Please note these courses are entirely free to all!
• Managing Civil Actions in Threat Incidents • Incident Command Courses • Emergency Planning For Schools • Safety Programs for Schools and For Educating Students • Guide to Citizen Emergency Preparedness • Protecting Your Home or Small Business from Disaster • Emergency Management Healthcare Courses • Law Enforcement and Fire NIMS Response Training • HAZMAT Training and Response
