Parex K11 Matryx CEMENTITIOUS WATERPROOFING SYSTEM BY CRYSTALLIZATION

DESCRIPTION Parex K11 Matryx is a cementitious waterproofing system which protects and waterproofs concrete structures by crystallization. The active chemicals react with moisture in the concrete resulting in crystalline formation within the pores and capillary tracts of concrete, thus waterproofing the structure against penetration of water and other liquids from any direction. Parex K11 Matryx gives a strong and lasting waterproofing protection against dampness and ground water hydrostatic pressure. USES Recommended for interior and exterior below grade surfaces.Parex K11 Matryx gives protection against concrete decay and waterborne corrosive salts. Can be used for negative waterproofing of concrete structure and on horizontal structural slabs against hydrostatic pressure as it provides strong resistance to impact and abrasion.

SURFACE PREPARATION

The concrete surface must be clean and free from must be clean and free from laitance, oils, grease, curing agents or other foreign matters. If surface is too smooth or highly contaminated with foreign particles, sand blast or acid etch surface before treatment.

Concrete surface must be sound. No visible cracks exceeding 0.4mm wide, honeycombed pockets to depth about 40mm and width of 25mm. Mix three parts of Parex K11 Matryx to one part water by weight, until stiff mortar consistency is achieved. Prime concrete surface with one slurry coat of Parex K11 Matryx before applying the mortar mix onto area to be patched tightly sealing any cavaties.

Parex K11 Matryx must be applied on damp substrate only to ensure maximum chemical penetration. Pre-wet substrate until damp prior to application of Parex K11 Matryx. If a concrete surface dries out before application, it must be re-wetted.

MIXING & APPLICATION

Mixing For brush roller or spray application, mix 8.0 to 9 liters of clean water to 25kg Parex K11 Matryx.

For trowel application, mix approx. 5.75 to 6.25 liters of water to 25kg of Parex K11 Matryx. Always mix the powder to the clean water by using a mechanical stirrer. Mix for 2 minutes until a smooth lump free consistency is achieved.

Application Apply a minimum of 2 coats in perpendicular directions, using block brush, roller or spray. The second coat must be applied while the first coat is fresh but sufficiently set so that it is not drawn of while applying the second coat. For trowel application, only one coat is required.

The mixed material must not be applied at temperature below 5ºC or on frozen surface. At no instance should the total thickness exceed 5mm in single application.

DRY SHAKE METHOD (NEGATIVE WATERPROOFING)

Sprinkle Parex K11 Matryx directly from the packaging after allowing concrete to achieve initial set.

Sprinkle Parex K11 Matryx at the rate of 3-3.5 kg/m² evenly and trowel to required finish or power float.

DRY SHAKE METHOD (POSITIVE WATERPROOFING)

Sprinkle Parex K11 Matryx powder directly from the packaging at the rate of 2kg/m² evenly onto the lean concrete substrate just before pouring of the concrete.

Curing After Parex K11 Matryx coat has hardened, cure the treated surface with a light mist of clean water at a regular intervals three times a day, for the initial two or three days. In extremely hot weather curing period may have to be extended to several days.

PROTECTION Protection of Parex K11 Matryx is not obligatory. However if used on external areas, subjected to heavy rain, harsh sunlight or frost, the finished application should be protected for at least 24 hours. COVERAGE For slurry coat/ Brush application method, apply at a rate of 1.1kg/m²/0.7mm depending on the area of application. For trowel application method, apply at a rate of 2.2 kg/m²/mm. PACKAGING 25 KG Bag. CLEANING All tools and equipment should be cleaned immediately with clean water after use. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.

Product contains cement, which may cause dermatitis. Wear rubber gloves when handling the product. In case of insufficient ventilation, put on suitable respiratory equipment. Do not apply the product when the surface temperature is below 5ºC or greater than 45ºC. Product is classified as non-hazardous.
