Introduction

“Report” is the easiest way to organize and present data from your database.

Reports enable you to format your data in an attractive and informative layout for

printing or viewing. Reports provide a way to distribute snapshots of your data,

either by being printed out or converted to PDF. Reports can provide details about

individual records, summaries across many records, or both.

For meetings, for mailings, for making your point, there's nothing better than clear,

elegant data. Whether you are sharing a weekly status report with your team or

sending a product catalog to your customers, reports draw attention to your data

and make it work for you.

Cellica Database includes a module namely “Report Manager". Use this to design

reports for profiles as per your requirement.

“Report Manager allows to graphically design report layout using wide variety of

controls and link fields from profile as a data sources. Fields from these tables can

be placed on the report design surface, and can also be used in formulas. Formulas

can be evaluated at several phases during report generation as specified by the

developer.

Support controls in “Report Manager” have a wide array of formatting options

available. Cellica Database Reports also supports subreports, graphing, drawing and

GPS functionality.

option. Password set for each report will be same for all the users assigned to that

report. When user will try to open the report on his device, software will ask for

password. Device user needs to use the password set by administrator to view the

report on device.

Creating Report

Click on “Add Report” button. Now select a base profile for report from list of

profiles.

Select “Design New Report”.

On “Select Users” page of report creation wizard, select the users for which you

want to create this report.

You can also use “Import Report” option to import already exported/saved report

template from Cellica Database application.

Reports can be designed in both “Portrait” and “Landscape” Mode.

Select “Page Size for Report”. Currently supported page size are, “Letter”, “Legal”

and “A4”.

After clicking on Click “Next” button, you will get blank canvas to design the

report.

Add controls to canvas from Control Pallet according to your requirement. You can add controls to canvas by two ways either select the control in Control pallet and

drag it to canvas or select the particular control and then click on canvas.

Report Controls Following section will explain controls available for reports. To design a report, you

have to drag the control as per your requirement and set the properties for each

control.

Label

You use labels on a report to display descriptive text such as titles, captions, page

number, time stamp, current time or brief instructions. Labels don't display values

from fields or expressions; they're always unbound.

Content Type: Here select the type as per your requirement.

- Label: Display the Caption.

- Page Number: Displays the page number on report pages

- Now: Displays the current time when report is generated.

- TimeStamp: Displays a Fix DateTime value provided at the time of report

design.

Show Border: Show/Hide border around label.

Align Text: You can align the text to Left, Right and Center.

Text Box

Use text boxes on a report to display data from a column. This type of text box is

called a bound text box because it's bound to data in a field.

Set “Data Column”. Select the field, which you want to bind with this text field.

Container

To view the image data, you must set following properties to your container control.

Set the “Content Type” property to “Image”. Map the Data Column property to your

image data type column where your image data will be saved.

Formula

In Formula field, you can use +, -, *, /, (, ) operators in formula along with the

function provided in List Control.

Select Form Options to select the field which you want to use in the formula.

Select Functions, to use various conversions and Math functions in your Formula.

Select Operators to select operators like +.-, *, /.

Double click on the Field names, functions or operators you want to use in the

formula. Double click or Paste button will write selected function or field name in

Formula control.

Unbound Image Control

Please note that, this control will not show images from data column. This control

can be used to display images assigned to records on device by using unbound

image control on form.

You can also use Unbound Image Control to display Logo which is transferred from

desktop.

Set “Content Type” property to “Logo”. Now select the logo from available list in

front of “Logo Name” property.

Graph

You can use graph control to add various type of graphs on your report. Set “Chart

Type” property to required chart type. Now set the other information such as X-Y

axis column names.

Location

You can use location control to add location to your reports. When report is

generated location control will get values according to “Location Type” property set

while designing report.

Shape

You can draw various shapes using Shape control on report. Set “Shape Type”

property to required shape. You can draw Line, Rectangle, Oval and Rounded Rect

using Shape control.

Grid Control

You can use Grid control to view multiple records on report in list view. Use

“Column Settings” property to set the required column information for grid.

SubReport

Page 15: Cellica Database ReportsCellica Database Reports Page 8 Report Properties Use "Report Properties" to set Report Name, Caption (SubReport names), Report Color, Page size : user can

Cellica Database Reports Page 15

A Subreport is a report that is inserted in another report. The primary report is

called the main report (main Report: A report that contains one or more

subreports.), and the report within the main report is called the subreport. A

report/subreport combination is often referred to as a hierarchical report, a

master/detail report, or a parent/child report.

Set mapping for Subreport control like Subform control.

The important property is “Print Option”, You can print only currently viewable

records on subreport (number of records that fit in to size of subreport) or you can

print all records related to main record in subreport. In this case the report may

span to multiple pages depending on the number of records in subreport for single

main report record.

Figure 17: SubReport control properties

Input Parameters

You can use the “Input Parameters” property of report to set the parameters of a

report at run time. You can pass the appropriate values to the Input Parameters

that can be either fixed or dynamic.

Input parameters are fixed values/ data fields that you pass to the report at run

time.

Administrator can specify input parameters to the Report, based on which the

report can display data.

Page 16: Cellica Database ReportsCellica Database Reports Page 8 Report Properties Use "Report Properties" to set Report Name, Caption (SubReport names), Report Color, Page size : user can

Cellica Database Reports Page 16

If we design a report to display employee information, we can provide a parameter

to the report stating which employees need to be displayed. In Cellica Database we

provide the text-box to input the data from the user at runtime.

For specifying input parameter to report, we need to tap on Report Property "Input

Parameter".

Figure 18: Input Parameter dialog

On Input parameter dialog -

1) You can create multiple parameter with AND/OR joining operators.

2) Select a Field (Column) for applying criteria.

3) Supported field operators are “=, <>, <, > <=, >= and between” etc.

Page 17: Cellica Database ReportsCellica Database Reports Page 8 Report Properties Use "Report Properties" to set Report Name, Caption (SubReport names), Report Color, Page size : user can

Cellica Database Reports Page 17

4) You can specify a fixed value or runtime value to parameter.

5) For “between” operator you need to specify two values.

Need of Input parameters

Suppose you have a query named Last Order which returns the names and

addresses of your customers together with the date when you shipped their most

recent order. Recently you added some exciting new products to your inventory and

catalog. Every time that you ship an order, you include a copy of the current

catalog. You expect that the new products will be very popular, and you want to

make sure that all your customers know about them. You want to mail a new

catalog to all customers who have not already received one in a shipment.

So you want to create a mailing list that contains the names and addresses of those

customers whose most recent order was shipped before you produced the new

catalog. To do this, you apply a criterion to the ship date field of your Last Order

query. The criterion specifies that the date in the ship date field comes before the

date when you started distributing the new catalog, for example, 3/31/2006. When

you run the query, you get a mailing list that contains only those customers who

have not received a new catalog.

But what if this situation happens again? You could modify the design of your query

by changing the value specified by the criterion, but wouldn't it be nice if your

query could ask you for a date and then use that date to decide which customers to

include on the mailing list? You can make your query do this by using a special kind

of criterion, called a parameter.

Using Reports on Form

To open particular report from Form use need to use “Button” control on Form.

While designing the form, drag “Button” control on your form and Set “Action”

property to “Report”. Now set "Report" property of this "Button" control to required

report name from the dropdown list.

Save and sync the reports and updated forms to device.
