Motorola Inc. Patents the “Handie-Talkie”

22 May 1951

This helped aid American Troop communication during the WW II.

Leonid Kupriyanovich develops the LK-1 Radiophone.

1 Jan 1957

Soviet engineer Leonid Kupriyanovich intrudes the LK-1 Radiophone. The mobile device consists of a handset with a rotary dial and a base station that plugged into existing telephones lines.

FCC allocates bandwidth space for cellular phone calls

15 July 1968

Under pressure AT&T and Bell Lab., the FCC reconsiders its previous denial of bandwidth for cellular transmissions.

Dr. Martin Cooper makes first cellular telephone cell.

3 April 1973

Dr. Martin an engineer for Motorola Inc. made a call to rival engineer Joel Engel, the head of research for Bell. This was the first true cellular phone ever.

Advanced Mobile Phone System introduced in the U.S.A.

1 Jan. 1983

The Advanced Mobile System developed by Bell Labs., is introduced in the U.S. This system was used to separate channels for each individual conversation.

Finish company Radiolinja launches first 2G network for commercial use.

1 July 1991The Finish telecommunications

company Radiolinja launched the first second generation, 2G, network for commercial use. The increased bandwidth allowed SMS text messages, and ringtones.

Nokia introduces the first smart phone.

1 August 1996Nokia released the Nokia 9000

Communicator. Attempting to merge Personal Digital Assistant with a phone, Nokia launched the first “smart –phone” feat. A full keyboard and LCD screen.

Research in Motion releases first Blackberry pager.

1 Jan 1999Canadian based technology company

Research in Motion released the first Blackberry pager in 1999. Though not a phone, the Blackberry 850 pager was the predecessor for future Blackberry models.

Apple releases the iPhone.9 Jan. 2007

Apple Inc. releases the iPhone. Combining concepts of MP3 player and PDA Smartphone, the iPhone quickly becomes one of Apple’s flagship products.

TeliaSonera launches first 4G network in Stockholm, Sweden.

Cons

Cell phones are there just in case of Car Accidents, medical conditions, and when your traveling alone can necessitate contacting someone.

Cell phone use while driving can be a big distraction. 25% of car wrecks happen because the user was distracted by cell phone usage.

Conclusion

Cell phones are a very useful source these days.

I’m very thankful for cells phones. Without them I honestly don’t know

what I would do if they were never invented.
