Sporting Success
The U13 boys athletics team put in a strong
performance at the Bury St Edmunds Leisure
Centre and finished third in the Western Area
Super 8’s competition, securing them a
qualification place in the county finals.
In the finals, the boys put in some exceptional
performances, which included wins for
Colby Poolton in the shot put and Dylan Kirk in
the 200m. Following some impressive work in
the other track and field events, and a quick time
in the medley relay, the boys finished in fourth
position out of the ten schools attending the
county finals.
Haydn Fox, Year 7 was asked to
talk about his experiences at
MCA with visitors from the ATT.
The following paragraph is how
he described his experiences.
MCA is a great place to learn because of all the work and support teachers
put into a single lesson; the fundamental help that guides pupils along their
way, the core values and simple energy of the teachers here contributing to
make this school the fantastic place to learn that it is. The ingenuity of just
one teacher that absorbs a pupil into a lesson makes such a difference to
our education. You see, as Benjamin Franklin once said “ Tell me and I’ll
forget. Show me and I may remember. Involve me and I will learn.”

Congratulations to the Year 7 rounders team
on winning the Western Area rounders
league. The girls put in a series of strong
performances beating St Benedicts,
Stour Valley, Horringer Court, IES Breckland
and Samuel Ward Academy.
The Year 10 Youth Award group have been
working extremely hard to design, print and
present a recipe book for food bank clients.
They have designed a series of nutritious
meals which can be made from the contents
of a food bank bag. Rev Tim Bright received
a copy of the recipe book and it is pleasing to
see that the recipes are being well received
in the local community.

Sports Day
Rocket Cars
Eight students have successfully taken part in
a rocket car challenge. The students had to
design and make a car that was powered by
a rocket motor to travel a short distance as
fast as possible. The cars designed by
Mildenhall College Academy students
achieved speeds of around 60mph.
Congratulations to James Dawson, Harvey
Pakahm, Ben Hobbs, Jack Harrington, Callum
Bourberry, Bobby Claydon, James Arnold and
Riley Palmer who all designed cars capable of
achieving the national speed limit.
Congratulations to James Humphries who helped
to develop the sports day app that was used to
give live results at this years sports day. The app
helped to deliver an extra competitive edge as the
students were able to see how close the results
were throughout the day. The app was also
designed to make any broken records visible to all
students. During the course of the day 21 records
were broken. In a very close run sports day
Newton House came out as winners clinching
victory in the last relays of the day.
Congratulations to James for his support in
developing the app, all of the record breakers and
all of the Newton competitors.
