In celebration of Walk to School Month, the Wellness Team and Green Team are planning to participate in Walk to School Day. We will be encouraging students to walk to school on Tuesday, October 28th. Walkers are encouraged to walk to school and we are identifying two ‘meet-up’ spots for students who typically ride the bus. We are asking parents to join us in the walk to Bollman Bridge!

“Meet-Up” Spots- BBES staff members will start walking to school at 8am.

Location 1: OLD Savage Volunteer Fire Company

8925 Lincoln Street, Savage, MD 20763

Location 2: The Wincopin Trail Access parking area for Savage Park on

Vollmerhausen Rd.

Wellness Wisdom

Three healthy home routines can positively impact the health of our children:

§ Eat dinner as a family at home 5 nights a week.

§ Sleep at least 10 hours a night.

§ Limit screen time (TV and video games) to less than 2 hours a day on weekends, and none on weekdays.

Pre-school and elementary school children in families who followed ALL THREE of these guidelines had 40% LESS obesity than children in families who did not. Set a goal to implement these routines in your family!

Free Winter Coats & Clothing

Please join the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Iota Lambda Chapter for the Annual AKA Coat Day and Clothing Drive. We will be providing FREE coats and clothing to the

Howard County Community.

School/PTA Joint Fundraiser Gold Party Event is a local fundraising company that will be working with us on a new style of fundraising, between now and winter break. How it Works Gold Party Event is conducting an easy fundraiser that raises money for our school without anyone having to buy or donate anything. Gold Party Event gives people the opportunity to "Cash In For A Cause" by recycling their unwanted gold and silver items (at top dollar). Customers KEEP ALL OF THEIR MONEY from the appraisal value. Gold Party Event will then donates 10-20% to our school. How to Participate Step 1- Gather your unwanted or broken gold, silver or platinum items. Invitations for upcoming events including Fall Fest, November's PTA Meeting & Parent Teacher Conferences Step 2- Bring your baggie of items to school on the scheduled event days and your items will be appraised. Once you are told the value of your items, choose to sell all, some or none of your appraised items. Just a reminder to all parents that pick up from ALL after-school programs is at 4:15pm. Students who are picked up late more than twice may be removed from after-school programs at BBES. Also, parent pick-up is in the lobby only! Parents should wait in the lobby for their student to be walked out to them. Please do not go to the classroom to retrieve your student.
