A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT… 2019 is another special year for the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame. It’s our 25th Anniversary and I offer my personal and profound thanks to all of you for your past and current support of our annual celebration and related community activities. We have come a long way in recent years for our annual induction celebration and engagement with community.

We are excited to celebrate a stellar “Class of 2019” inductee lineup including an outstanding selection of special award recipients. Whether you chose to come on board as a major partner, as a table sponsor or with the purchase of individual tickets for you and your guests, your participation provides invaluable support enabling us to showcase and appreciate our most recognized athletes, builders, media, community leadership and volunteer citizens.

The Ontario Sports Hall of Fame (OSHOF) is a volunteer, not-for-profit organization devoted to honouring Ontario’s greatest athletes, builders, personalities and writers for their lifelong contributions to the Ontario sports scene. It is the role of the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame to ensure that these memories remain firmly engrained in our hearts and minds and that time will not diminish the nature of our legends’ deeds for generations to come.

The Hall of Fame was established in 1994 by Bruce Prentice, following a 15-year tenure as founder and president of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame. The inaugural class of honoured members was inducted in 1994. Each year, the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame honours recipients of the Brian Williams Media Award, the Sandy Hawley Community Service Award, the Bruce Prentice Legacy Award and the Syl Apps, Ontario Athlete of the Year Award. For the past five years, the Syl Apps, Ontario Athlete of the Year Award has been selected by the people of Ontario in a public online vote.
