148. Pair of Cobra CandelabrasThese unique brass candelabras have quite a history. They were acquired by Pansy Byrd, wife of Col. Jesse Lee Byrd Jr., MD, who served as Medical Officer for the Panama Canal from 1914-1953. They were donated to the An Evening for a Child auction by their granddaughter Cynthia Byrd Stotlar-Hedberg. The pieces were likely made in India or China circa 1920-1940.

Fun Fact: Col. Byrd was a cousin of Admiral Richard Evelyn Byrd who served with Dwight D. Eisenhower in Panama.
